Parking of Fish Market in Deira and multi-storey parking excluded
The Roads & Transport Authority: The Parking Dep't at the Traffic & Roads Agency of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) announced that the paid parking zones all over Dubai Emirate will be free of charge marking the advent of the new Hijri Year, and the UAE 40th National Day, as of Thursday 1 December 2011 until Saturday 3 December such that the parking fees will be activated on Sunday 4 December 2011. However, the Agency announced the parking of the Fish Market in Deira will not be free of charge during the said holiday in order to ensure the availability of parking space for visitors of the Market. Multi-storey parking will also be excluded.
Engineer Maitha bin Edai, CEO of RTA Traffic & Roads Agency, said: "This step comes in the context of RTA attention to ensure smooth mobility of residents and visitors of Dubai during holidays of national and religious events; which in turn reflects the continuous care of the RTA for the public and demonstrates the sense of responsibility towards the visitors and inhabitants of the Emirate. No doubt it is a gesture that gives a practical demonstration of RTA vision of providing Safe & Smooth Transport for All through facilitating the means of mobility and the movement of motorists during official holidays and religious events."
Meanwhile RTA calls on parking users in Dubai Emirate to properly use the parking lots; which are part of the infrastructure provided in the first place for the comfort of the public, including citizens, residents, visitors and tourists.
RTA also calls on motorists to avoid parking on road pavements, or behind parked vehicles; a practice which will trigger fines as provided for in the law against offenders.
