The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) extends free parking around Mosques to an hour from half hour which had been applied previously in the Emirate of Dubai according to the five prayers times.
Eng Maitha Bin Adai Chief Executive Officer of Traffic and Road Agency, RTA said that the one hour exemption would be divided into fifteen minutes before the "Adhan" timing and forty-five minutes after offering the prayer. The hour of free parking will be applicable to all vehicles that are parked in the areas directly adjacent to the mosques and according to the regulations of parking. The exemption will not cover the areas surrounding the mosques.
She explained that this procedure will continue throughout the year including Ramadan as it is a part of the RTA's strategy to cater to the needs of society in general and respect the prayer times in particular.
She added that this move comes in the framework of the Authority's willingness to respond to the public's needs of providing adequate parking for the prayers in the mosques, but at the same time the RTA will continue monitoring the parking around the mosques to prevent it from being misused by those who park their vehicles for personal gain.
Meanwhile, Eng Mehdi Ali Director of Parking said that the parking control systems aim at easing the pressure on crowded areas and reducing the traffic congestion. This comes under the RTA's efforts to control and regulate the use of public parking in Dubai, especially with the influx of people and the continuous increase in the number of vehicles.
The Director of Parking said that his department will continue playing a key role in achieving the vision and strategic goals of the RTA of safe and smooth transport for all.
