Dubai (UAE): HE Mattar Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) approved the temporary closure of Line No. 3 for Abra because of a number of constructions and modernization of the Abra stations.
Engineer Essa Abdul Rahman Al-Dossari, CEO of the Marine Agency, said that the closure of this line is due to carry out an amendment to the stations, which in turn aims to keep operating the Water Bus which planned to operation in July 2007, in addition to the construction of the Abra stations in Baniyas and Al Seef comprises the removal of interlock, transfer and re- installation of floating docks, the works of the barrier and misapprehended lighting works, as well as the modernization of the infrastructure of electronic works.
He added that we aims also to update the stations with improved floating, through identical conditions with the functional uses of water bus and will also modernize infrastructure with the security and safety equipment and services tailored to people with special needs as well as the development of the stations by providing the infrastructure for Automatic Fee Collection (AFC), using a common smart card for various means of transport services, including Water bus service and ?Abra, the metro, public buses and parking.
Engineer Al Dossari that users of line No. 3 should use other lines such as line No. 1 going from Bur Dubai to Old Deira Market or Line No. 2 from Dubai market to Al Sabkha station.
