Officially opened yesterday by Brigadier General Mohammad Butti Al-Rumaith (Director General of the General Department of Border Security, Abu Dhabi Police) who was accompanied by Mohammad Bin Ghannam Al-Hamili (Under Secretary of The Department of Finance), Roadex-Railex, The Middle East's Premier Traffic and Transport Infrastructure Exhibition, attracted a steady flow of quality visitors on its first day.
"Emerging markets don't come any bigger than Abu Dhabi," said Sarah Woodbridge, Group Director - Exhibitions, IIR Middle East, organisers of the event. "Significant investment in the region's infrastructure has been underway for some time, however Abu Dhabi has recently tabled extensive proposals in the form of Plan Abu Dhabi 2030 - the emirate's strategic development programme."
Rapid growth in future population and visitor figures has a significant impact on transport planning. With the number of cars on Abu Dhabi's roads increasing at an annual rate of 20%, the government is implementing strategies to develop and encourage the use of public transit systems.
"Across the Middle East, governments are investing US$147 billion on transport and infrastructure projects," added Woodbridge. "These essential projects will continue, regardless of the global economic situation, as they are key to the continued development of countries throughout the region, and as such have priority status."
Regional and international exhibitors at Roadex-Railex are showing the latest developments that will help governments throughout the region implement their traffic and transport infrastructure initiatives.
German exhibitor INIT, a world-leading provider of telematics and electronic fare collection systems for public transport, is showing its latest developments, alongside a number of proven systems that assist in making public transport more attractive, faster and more efficient.

Roadex-Railex, which is sponsored by Vossloh, a major international supplier of advanced traffic control and warning systems, runs through until Tuesday 25th November at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, and is open from 11am to 7pm daily. Admission is free for trade professionals.
