New Abu Dhabi-based company will manufacture and distribute steel reinforced plastic pipes to customers throughout the Middle East
Tuesday 19 September 2006, Dubai, UAE: A new company in Abu Dhabi, Al Dhafra Pipes has established a custom-built factory to manufacture and distribute steel reinforced plastic (polyethylene) pipes. The combination of these two proven materials in one pipe creates a product never seen in the region before and promises to revolutionise the drainage and sewage industries throughout the Middle East.
Al Dhafra Pipes steel reinforced plastic pipes, more durable than conventional pipes available in the region are ideally suited to combat aggressive soils and saline groundwater conditions which characterise the Middle East.
"Steel reinforced plastic pipes offer the perfect solution for the challenges associated with irrigation and drainage across the region," said Jason Thomas, general manager, Al Dhafra Pipes. "The unique combination of steel reinforcing with plastic makes the pipes stronger and more durable against the affects of corrosion, chemicals, harsh fluids and soils."
"Additionally," Thomas went on to say, "clients save money in the long run on infrastructure costs because the pipe's unique strength and durability ensures their lifespan is substantially greater than most other pipes available."
Al Dhafra Pipes steel reinforced plastic pipes have been independently tested according to international and local standards and are the lightest pipe available on the market, eliminating the need for heavy installation machinery and additional labour, offering clients further cost savings.
The pipes will be used for the gravity flow transmission of irrigation and storm drainage water and the collection and transfer of sewage from households and buildings to treatment plants or sewage overflow systems.
Al Dhafra Pipes steel reinforced plastic pipes can be produced as perforated pipe for subsoil drainage applications and used to collect and transfer surface water through ground seepage into the pipeline. This eliminates the need for open drainage channels and reduces water tables.
