Ras Al Khaimah, February 28, 2006: Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone, one of the best-equipped free zones in the region, has announced that it has selected the mySAP Business Suite solution to streamline its operations and processes. mySAP is a product of SAP, the world's leading provider of business software solutions. The RAK Free Trade Zone will implement a number of business applications that are both integrated out-of-the box and in line with global 'Best Practices'.

The mySAP Business Suite combines the world's most complete, scalable and effective software for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) with a flexible, open technology platform. The Free Zone will implement the software and Free Zone Management System covering Financials (FI/CO), Materials Management (MM), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Real Estate, HR and Payroll and Free Zone Administration.  

Termed "Automation Project", the implementation will be carried out by Vertscape (RAK FTZ will also use their Free Zone Administration application). The applications are expected to give RAK Free Zone a competitive edge by delivering enhanced customer service, higher efficiency, flexibility, scalability and multi-service capabilities.

Commenting on the SAP selection, Mr. Oussama El Omari, Project Director General/CEO, RAK Free Trade Zone, said: "As the Middle East environment becomes increasingly competitive and complex with changing business needs, expert technology will enable us to develop a more customer-centric approach, reduce costs, provide timely responses and thereby become more profitable in the long run. The implementation will be a 'Big Bang' approach, in which all the modules will be implemented in parallel. This will lead to top management seeing immediate benefits with higher visibility and insight into everyday operations, allowing them to make more strategic decisions.

RAK Free Trade Zone has gained a phenomenal 70% growth in the number of registered companies in 2005 and achieved a capital investment value of 750 million Dirhams. Currently, the list of companies at RAK FTZ reveals a global background. Companies from UAE, Iran, India, GCC and 70 other countries in the world have a presence at RAK FTZ. Many of these companies have excellent financial strengths.

The year 2005 has been great for SAP worldwide. Total revenues of the exceeded $10 billion, an increase of 13% compared to 2004, with product sales up 18%. SAP's worldwide market share against its peer group based on software revenues was 62% at the end of 2005, representing a gain of seven percentage points compared to 2004.

Meanwhile, as per the latest IDC study 2004, covering the MENA software solutions market confirmed that SAP was the number 1 player in the region. SAP gained 78% of the 2004 market share in SCM, almost four times more than its nearest competitor. The IDC Study for 2005 is expected to come out later this year.
