WiFi at nominal rates for customers who want more than Just high-speed access
Qtel announced today its introduction to a whole new concept to work at leisure with Prepaid Qtel Hotspots in Qatar. Qtel Hotspots is a high speed Wirefree Internet service based on Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) technology. In keeping with the growing demand for WiFi in Qatar, Qtel has introduced a very reasonable Prepaid pricing scheme for its customers at Qtel Hotspot locations.
Qtel Hotspots are located at leading hotels, restaurants and coffee shops around town where people can enjoy access to the Internet and use applications such as email, web browsing, chatting, virtual private networks and a host of other Internet-based services via WiFi enabled laptop, mobiles or PDAs,.
Qtel Hotspot is designed to make Internet access a pleasurable experience, available when and where desired at very reasonable prices explained Khalil Al-Emadi, Qtels Executive Director for Wireline Services.
"With more and more people on the go and frequenting popular venues like coffee shops, hotel lobbies and restaurants for meetings and leisure, it is no longer enough for us to provide just high-speed access and impeccable service," said Mr. Al-Emadi. "Qtel Hotspot gives our customers the opportunity to use the Internet at their favourite places while they enjoy their favourite treats. Its all part of our campaign to add our own flavouring to what fits our customers lifestyles."
Customers will soon see Qtels latest Hotspot adverts dotted around the country promoting its accessibility at different food and beverage outlets.
Hotspot Prepaid cards are available in denominations of QR 70, QR 50 and QR 30 at all Hotspot outlets. The Qtel WiFi icon, detected by WiFi enabled gadgets, link you to the network with the name and password allotted on the card.
Once customers log in, they can choose from three Duration Plans 15 minutes, 1 Hour and All Day. These have been designed to help the customer make maximum use of a Prepaid Hotspot card.

For example, a customer can choose to login for a 15-minute duration that will cost QR 5 off the purchased Prepaid Hotspot card, and will be valid for 6 hours, during which the customer can login and logout until the 15 minute connection time has been used up. The customer can use the connection time within the validity time frame in any of the outlets, if he/she wants to change location. Similarly, 1 Hour duration will cost QR 15 with a validity of 12 hours, and the 'All Day option would cost QR 70, which is valid for 24 hours.
"The Duration Plans will help save money on a customers Prepaid Hotspot card depending on the hours he/ she plans to use it. So it is not necessary for the customer to buy a new card every time they access Hotspot. The Duration Plans will help make maximum use of the card," said Mr Al-Emadi.
Leading hotels and restaurants where Qtel Hotspot is currently available include the InterContinental Hotel, Merweb Hotel, Eli France (Salwa & City Center), La Maison du Caf (Salwa & Royal Plaza), Le Notre Paris, Grand Caf, Crepaway, Mint Caf, Fauchon Paris (Salwa) and the Diplomatic Club.
