The Al Safa Public Library has been converted into an art oasis, which has attracted a lot of kids to participate in the activities organized during the Arts Surprises theme week by the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department.
Face Painting, Sand Art, Painting, Handicrafts, Coloring Cartoon Characters – form the varied activities for the children. Children can choose to color from amongst the pre-outlined drawing sheets that contain Cartoon Characters, flowers and other forms, and once finished, they can take to their artistic works as souvenirs of their memories at Arts Surprises. They can also choose the characters that they want painted on their faces.
Suhaila Jassem Hassan, Supervisor of the Public Libraries activities, said: “The aim of the activity is to improve the kids creative abilities, and talents and to enhance their skills.”
The kids expressed their delight with the workshops, which helped them to spend their spare time in an entertaining manner.
“We had a great time at the Public Library and we participated in the activity. I got a butterfly painted on my face,” said Najood Asghar,
Zoha and Zeina Al Sadi, from Syria came to the Public Library, “We enjoyed the Sand Painting and the Face Painting Activities. We got our face painted like Mickey Mouse.”
Dubai Summer Surprises is currently in the Arts Surprises theme week presented by Department of Naturalisation and Residency in Dubai from June 17-23, to be followed by Ice Surprises by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority from June 24-30, Sweets Surprises by Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing from July 1-7, Cartoon Surprises by Dubai Ports Authority from July 8-14, Flower Surprises by Dubai Municipality from July 15-21, Heritage Surprises by Dubai Customs from July 22-28, Adventure Surprises by Dubai Police from July 29-August 4, Knowledge Surprises by Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry from August 5-11, Back-2-School Surprises by the Department of Economic Development from August 12-18 and ends with the Colour Surprises by the Department of Health and Medical Sciences from August 19- 27, 2004.
