04 Mar 2012, Manama, Bahrain - Protiviti, an independent, multi-award winning global business consulting and internal audit firm, has appointed Mohammed Ali Hamad as joint Managing Director of Protiviti Member Firm (Bahrain) as part of its 2012 plan to drive new business initiatives in the kingdom.

Mohammed brings extensive experience from a background of 31 years in internal audit and technical advisory with some of the leading government and private organisations in Bahrain. Prior to joining Protiviti, Mohammed held the position of Assistant Undersecretary and Technical Advisor with the National Audit Court in Bahrain. His career also includes 23 years with the Bahrain Ministry of Finance as Director of Audit and with Kuwait Finance House as Head of Internal Audit Department.

Mohammed joins Nicola Thompson, who has been the Managing Director of Protiviti Bahrain since February, 2011. Elaborating on the new appointment, Nicola commented, "With significant senior advisory experience and a strong internal audit background, Mohammed's appointment demonstrates our commitment to strengthening our services in Bahrain, a strategically important market for the Group, and the region. His breadth of expertise will complement our strong team, as we continue to deliver specialised risk management, internal audit and business advisory services, to Bahrain's leading businesses."

Also, as part of its 2012 initiatives, Protiviti Bahrain hosted a seminar on "Protiviti's Perspectives on Internal Audit Challenges for 2012 and Setting the Board/Audit Committee Agenda" at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Bahrain on 8th February 2012.  The key speaker at the seminar was Mr. Robert Hirth, Executive Vice President and Global Internal Audit Leader of Protiviti and provided insightful challenges and mandates for consideration by businesses and their boards and audit committees.

The seminar was attended by Board and Audit Committee Members, Chief Executive Officers, Chief Internal Auditors, Chief Risk Officers and Chief Financial Officers of major companies and organizations in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
