The Donation Came in Response to the Country's President to Supply Power to 30,000 Homes Reaching More than 100,000 Citizens

HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin AbdulAziz Alsaud, chairman of Kingdom Holding Company, donated $1 million to the Republic of Comoros Islands to help solve the power problem there. The donation came in response to the country's President to supply power to 30,000 homes reaching more than 100,000 citizens.

The Prince presented the check to the President of Comoros Islands Othman Ghazali during HRH's recent visit to the country. “We are committed to helping our Muslim brethren and to offer humanitarian and charitable aid,” vowed the Prince.

HRH announced his donation during his meeting with the Ambassador of Comoros Islands to Saudi Arabia Mr. Hamidou Karihila. The Prince requested from the ambassador information about the project that will be developed to help solve the power problem, and a list of all parties that will benefit from the donation to issue the check.

Last year Prince Alwaleed received a letter from President Ghazali outlining the economic difficulties his country is facing, which have caused the complete shut down of the islands’ power stations resulting in the closure of factories, hospitals, bakeries, and the main hotel on the islands. The upset has almost brought life to a standstill on the three main islands, yielding a severe blow to the entire national economy and social life, the letter explained.
