Dubai Motor Show enormous success for Porsche underscores high demand for new 911
Dubai. Porsche is celebrating overwhelming consumer response to the new 911 Carrera S, unveiled for the first time in the region at the Dubai International Motor Show.
The show, which ran from November 10-14, gave Porsche its first regional opportunity to showcase the brand new 911 Carrera, along with a crowd-stopping array of some of the world's finest sports cars - the Cayenne S Hybrid, Cayenne Turbo, Cayman R, and the 550 horsepower Panamera Turbo S.
The completely re-designed 911 took centre stage on Porsche's stand at the exhibition centre - with a host of excellent feedback from show visitors.
George Wills, Managing Director of Porsche Middle East and Africa FZE, says: "As you might expect, when we showed car enthusiasts the new iteration of perhaps our most iconic vehicle with a 48-year history, they reacted extremely positive. As a result of a very busy show for Porsche, we now have a bulging order book for this truly head turning vehicle."
The astounding Porsche 918 RSR, described as a 'laboratory on wheels', also pulled in the crowds. They were eager to have their questions regarding this motor sport version of the 918 Spyder answered by Michael Behr, one of the three concept engineers behind the 918 RSR.
Also on the stand, the Cayenne S Hybrid represented the chance for visitors to gain a greater understanding of Porsche's strong commitment to the future of environmentally friendly drive trains. Despite this vehicle delivering 380hp at 5,500rpm; 0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and a top track speed of 242 km/h, it takes most of its power where possible from an electric motor.
The Cayenne Turbo on display features a brand new two-tone leather interior in Black and Guards Red, while the Cayman R gave visitors the chance to view the latest addition to Porsche's two-seater range in eye-catching Peridot Metallic paintwork.
Porsche is spending a great deal of time and effort on its Intelligent Performance concept, which was detailed in a thrilling cinematic experience on the stand. More than 1,300 stand visitors took the chance to view the short film, specially produced for the show, which explained Porsche's long history, powerful presence and astounding technologies of the future - exemplified by the 911 GT3 R Hybrid and the 918 RSR.
"The 11th Dubai International Motor Show was a great success for us. Being able to show visitors what Porsche Intelligent Performance is all about, whether on our displayed series products, the 918 RSR concept car or through our cinema experience, was very important to us. Our stand was constantly buzzing with people.
"While we had a stunning display at this year's show, our stand hero was definitely the new 400 hp 3.8-litre 911 Carrera S," concluded Wills.
