Amsterdam, the Netherlands - Philips' application of technological and design innovation in home entertainment has been rewarded by two prestigious product awards from the European Imaging & Sound Association (EISA).
The Philips 47PFL9732D Cineos FlatTV with Perfect Pixel HD Engine and Ambilight Surround was named European Full-HD LCD TV, 2007-2008, while the Philips HTS8100 SoundBar DVD Home Theater with Ambisound technology was named European Home Theater Compact System 2007-2008.
EISA European Full-HD LCD-TV 2007-2008
The EISA Award for Philips' 2007 flagship Full HD 1080p 47-inch (119cm) FlatTV continues the recognition Philips has earned over many years for driving picture quality excellence in television. With the 47" screen size fast emerging as a key sector in the flat panel market - especially with the growth of High Definition content - the 47PFL9732D's EISA award is a significant achievement.
In its official citation, the EISA judging panel states that the Philips 47PFL9732D "...delivers breathtaking visual quality in full High Definition. Even the smallest details are clearly visible in 1920x1080p resolution, enhanced by truly outstanding motion compensation processing from Philips' innovative Perfect Pixel HD Engine". EISA's citation adds that with this set "...Philips has raised LCD TV standards to a new level of accomplishment".
EISA European Home Theater Compact System 2007-2008
Philips has long been regarded as an innovator in audio-video, and the EISA Award for the HTS8100 DVD Home Theater system underlines Philips' commitment to continued innovation in home entertainment.
Replacing traditional home theater systems based on separate surround sound loudspeakers, the HTS8100 applies Philips' Ambisound technology to deliver a true 5.1-channel audio performance from a system comprising one single unit.
The EISA judges gave specific praise to the system's design: "Miraculously its speakers, amplifier and DVD/CD player are all contained within a 13 cm-thin box. This design concept - the 'sound bar' - makes an excellent partnership with flat screen TVs&rdqou;, noting that it was capable of delivering "...an exceptionally good home-cinema performance"
Commenting on the two EISA awards, Rudy Provoost, Executive Vice-President, Royal Philips Electronics and Chief Executive Officer, Philips Consumer Electronics, said: "Philips is dedicated to offering consumers truly different, exciting and innovative products, underpinned by our promise of sense and simplicity, that provide truly immersive home entertainment experiences. The awards EISA has given these two products recognize how we have continually raised the standard in flat television picture excellence, home theater innovation and design, and the home entertainment experience overall."

About the winning products
The Philips 47PFL9732D Cineos FlatTV delivers the ultimate 1080P High Definition viewing experience thanks to a picture quality package that delivers superior sharpness, natural detail, vivid color and smooth natural motion. Key to this quality is Perfect Pixel HD Engine - a suite of Philips improvement technologies which deliver an unrivalled level of High Definition excellence:
- 100Hz ClearLCD combines enhanced physical response of liquid crystals in the display with a doubling of the display's refresh rate to 100 hertz. This cuts the response time to just three milliseconds, producing fast action without any blurring, a common limitation found in many ordinary LCD TVs.
- HD Natural Motion removes any motion judder in HD content to deliver unrivalled sharp and fluid pictures - perfect for high definition movie sources such as Blu-ray Disc&trade. HD Natural Motion measures and estimates the speed, motion and direction of an object in a scene, even compensating for sudden movements by the camera.
-Philips' new Color Booster uses 14-bit processing to generate a palette of four trillion colors. This results in increased color saturation, making colors even more vibrant and natural.
-A Full HD 1080p display delivers a resolution of a resolution of 6.2 million pixels - perfect for HD content.
The 47PFL9732D creates a richer and totally immersive HD viewing experience thanks to Ambilight Surround. Its dramatic ambient color and light effect draws the viewer deeper into the content on screen, while at the same time improving the perceived picture detail, contrast and color and creating a more relaxed viewing experience. This latest version of Philips' acclaimed Ambilight system also applies new LED lighting technology, ensuring more saturated colors and enabling a more compact set design that consumes less power than previous Ambilight FlatTVs.
Simplicity integrated into a single system
Philips has cleverly integrated surround sound, speakers, amplification and a DVD/ CD player into a single, integrated system just 13cm thick - the HTS8100 Soundbar DVD Home Theater. Ambisound technology enables it to deliver full 5.1 audio, creating an immersive entertainment experience without the hassle of multiple speakers Philips' Ambisound technology utilizes five individual amplifiers as well as an array of sound processing technologies, precise driver positioning and psycho-acoustic innovation to achieve the full surround sound performance. Information on how Ambisound works can be found online at www.ambisound.philips.com.
The Philips HTS8100 Soundbar combines amazing audio performance and stylish design with a best-in-class viewing experience, thanks to its use of DCDi video processing from Faroudja, as well as 1080p picture quality delivered to a screen via HDMI.
The HTS8100 is ready to use straight from the box, with a quick and easy set-up session. The system can be also easily mounted on a wall underneath an existing flat panel television, its simple, yet elegant design enhancing the dcor of any home cinema space, regardless of the room layout or design. The center console is designed to be mounted on a wall or resting on a stand.
