Amman - In line with its goal to develop its employees' capabilities, PepsiCo-Jordan - which received the King Abdullah II Award of Excellence in 2009 - in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade organized on Wednesday, 2nd February 2011 a training workshop for its Sales Department employees on Jordan's Competition Law.

The workshop, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, was conducted by Mr. Hussein Hamdani, Director of the Competition Department at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, covering several important topics relating to the law, which is one of the most vital laws that companies need to enforce and be aware of in order to create a positive work environment characterized by just competition.      

Commenting on the workshop, Mr. Sufian Salman, East Med & Africa Business Unit HR Director at PepsiCo, said, "We at PepsiCo-Jordan are dedicated to training our employees and honing their skills in various professional fields in order to enable them to comply with best international practices, thus ensuring that they enjoy a more productive and successful career in the market. We are proud to be pioneers in this field as Jordan was one of the first Arab countries to implement the competition law, which we believe plays a pivotal role in determining sound professional mechanisms that protect consumers' best interests.

Attending the workshop was PepsiCo's East Med & Africa Business Unit GM, Mr. Marwan Istaitie, PepsiCo-Jordan's General Manager, Mr. Ahmed El Sheikh, in addition to the department managers at the company.  

"We thank the Ministry of Industry and Trade for its effective role in developing companies' performance and for its collaboration with PepsiCo in particular, which reflects both the public and private sectors' commitment to creating a solid and competitive economy based on laws and legislations that promote economic prosperity," added Mr. Salman.

In turn, Mr. Hamdani affirmed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade seeks to support all private sector organizations' efforts in raising employees' awareness on the Competition Law and its culture. He also commended PepsiCo's ongoing efforts towards enhancing its employees' knowledge in this regard with the aim of bolstering its performance in the market and ensuring that it abides by competition regulations.
