Network-capable colour cameras and digital disk recorders display images on PC, for improved surveillance
October 1, 2003
Panasonic, the leading global manufacturer of electronic products, will demonstrate its superiority in closed circuit video equipment (CCVE) by unveiling an innovative range of advanced network-capable security colour cameras that capture live images and display them on PCs. The new cameras integrate digital video camera, web server and a network interface into one compact housing, which can be connected directly to an Ethernet terminal. Thus users in a remote location can dial up to the IP address and effortlessly view dynamic surveillance images in JPEG and MPEG-4 formats.
“The Closed Circuit Video Equipment which will be on display at GITEX Dubai 2003, to be held at Dubai World Trade Centre from 19-23 October 2003, feature state of the art network-ready security cameras that facilitate monitoring of homes and offices through PC, providing highly effective surveillance solutions for homes, offices and small and medium–sized businesses,” says Asahiko Ono, Deputy General Manager of System Products Group, Panasonic Marketing Middle East FZE. “They function under all conditions and allow the PC user to view images in both horizontal and vertical directions.”
“The network security cameras and other equipment exhibited at GITEX Dubai 2003 are the results of pioneering research done by Panasonic, which has been at the forefront of CCVE technology development since the 1950s. Our new focus is on leveraging the power and versatility of IP networks, PCs and other digital technologies in delivering more functionality and simplicity to our clients,” adds Ono.
The line-up of Panasonic CCVE products will include the Network Colour Camera WV-NM100 that facilitates easy monitoring through a PC, handling both JPEG and MPEG-4 images and producing clear images even in low light situations. It offers a wide field of view, covering 140 degrees for panning and 120 degrees for tilting.
The WV-NP472 Network Security Colour Camera is ideal for 24-hour surveillance with broadband capability. It can be connected directly to an Ethernet terminal for monitoring from a PC, and it can simultaneously use the analogue video out to connect to conventional CCTV systems using coaxial cable.
The WV-NS320 Series are Network Colour Dome Cameras, each of which combines camera, zoom lens, pan and tilt mechanisms into one compact unit, offering a connection to both the Internet and analogue CCTV systems simultaneously. It can automatically store images and attach them to e-mail or control external devices to switch on lights or start surveillance recording.
Panasonic’s high performance Digital Disk Recorders with network compatibility will also be on display at GITEX Dubai 2003. Three models will be on view – WJ-HD500B, WJ-HD200 and WJ-HD100. These recorders can be connected directly to the Internet or existing LAN or WAN. Using an ordinary PC web browser, they can deliver JPEG images from remote locations, while also allowing the facility to record and retrieve images locally.
Panasonic will be participating in Dubai GITEX 2003, along with its UAE sole distributor Panatech Engineering and Oman National Electronics, part of the Al Futtaim Group.
