Conference sets new technical standards for air-conditioning, heating and refrigeration industry; shares local best practices with global member

Over 100 local and international members to attend technical sessions on first day

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 29 October 2006: American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) is scheduled to hold its annual conference for its member chapters from the "region at large" in Al Murooj Rotana, Dubai, UAE, from November 1-3, 2006 to coincide with the end of the Big 5 exhibition. Bassel Anbari, Emirates Falcon Chapter (EFC) President will co-chair the conference with Antoine Dammous.

ASHRAE's Region at Large (RAL) represents all ASHRAE members not represented by other regions at Regions Council and the Board of Directors. RAL has three sub-regions:

Sub-Region A covering chapters in Africa, Middle East and Western Asia

Sub-Region B covering chapters in Europe and Scandinavia

Sub-Region C covering chapters in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland

"Originally this meeting was scheduled to be held in Lebanon, but because of recent problems, the local chapter offered to host the annual Chapter Regional Conference (CRC 2006) in Dubai," said Samir R. Traboulsi, Director & Regional Chair, the Region At Large (RAL).

CRC 2006 will be attended by at least two members from each of the chapters covered by RAL for its general business sessions and by over 100 local and international members, associates, and students for its technical sessions on the first day. The conference will host technical sessions on the first day (November 1st) where members will be provided with the latest information in the fields of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning, obtained through research and experience. Terry Townsend, President of the Society will attend CRC 2006 and will be the opening speaker. The official business sessions of CRC 2006 (open only to RAL chapter members) will be held on November 2nd and 3rd.

"Topics and debates discussed at these sessions help to reinforce ASHRAE's vision as a global leader and educator in the HVAC & R field," continued Traboulsi.

ASHRAE membership is open to any individual in the HVAC & R field who will be allowed access to technology and information to develop and help promote better local practices, standards and advancement in the field. Chapters Regional Conference (CRC) is held once a year or at least 30 days before the annual or winter meetings of the Society.
