Dubai: Held under the patronage of Egyptian Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the 5th edition of the Cairo WoodShow, one of the events of WoodShow Global, will have the participation of more than 200 brands from 32 different countries around the world, according to organisers.

Cairo WoodShow, North Africa's leading platform for wood and woodworking machinery, with 120 exhibitors from across 30+ countries and 7,000+ visitors, to be held at the Cairo International Exhibition and Convention Centre from 5- 8 December, 2019, will be organised by the Dubai-based Strategic Conferences and Exhibitions.

The Cairo WoodShow gains more importance given the qualitative shift made by the political leadership in Egypt to attract investments from across the world in various industrial sectors, including wood industry, in order to increase Egyptian exports to boost the economy.

The four-day event is supported by the Egyptian Furniture Export Council, Industrial Modernisation Centre, Chamber of Wood Working and Furniture Industry, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority, General Authority for Industrial Development and General Organisation for Import and Export Council.

He added: “With a unique exhibition, Cairo WoodShow facilitates the exchange of expertise and knowledge between local and foreign participants, the sale of local products in domestic and global markets, besides attracting foreign investments."

For his part, Ahmed Helmy, President of the Chamber of Wood Working and Furniture Industry at the Federation of Egyptian Industries, said that the Cairo WoodShow is a qualitative leap in the furniture and wood products industry, and helps manufacturers to raise the proportion of local products in the market, and boosts localisation of the Egyptian wood industry. "

Helmy stressed that the exhibition that showcases latest technologies helps Egyptian workers to know the latest developments in the furniture and wood industry.

For his part, Hussein Kamal, director of the Cairo WoodShow, said that the fifth edition of the exhibition aims to achieve the maximum possible benefit and support the Egyptian industry. He added that the total exports of furniture sector in Egypt is estimated at Egyptian pounds 30 billion, and accommodates 400,000 workers directly and nearly 600,000 indirectly, adding that the number of establishments working in the sector is close to 120,000, of them 95 per cent are medium and small.

He said, "Wood and furniture products in Egypt are exported to a large number of Gulf countries, Europe and the United States, in addition to those in charge of the sector strongly targeting access to the African market.”

Expected to attract more than 7,000 visitors, the fifth edition of the exhibition provides an ideal opportunity for all participants to connect with leading experts, specialists, producers and suppliers in the field of wood and machinery industry on a global level, as well as a number of representatives of government agencies interested in the sector.
