International Experts Identify Growing Interest Across the Middle East in Purchasing Fine Art for Design Purposes

Dubai, UAE: Building on the success of 'Art and Antiques Dubai', launched in 2008, fair organisers look to encourage growing interest in 'design' across the Middle East through the creation of an exclusive 'design' display at the 2009 fair.

For the second edition of the show, the fair will be called 'Art Antiques Design Dubai' and is scheduled to run from Wednesday 18th February - Sunday 22nd February, 2009, at the Madinat Arena, Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai.

Fair organisers, Haughton International Fairs, have partnered with  1st dibs.com, the premier online marketplace for antiques, vintage furniture and 20th century design to present for the first time 'Art Antiques Design Interiors' (AAD Interiors), a new concept at 'Art Antiques Design Dubai'.

'AAD Interiors' will incorporate two sets of professionally designed and executed room settings at the fair -- showcasing traditional and modern furnishing styles.

"At the inaugural fair, we found a growing segment of buyers from the Middle East look to invest in top quality art for decorative and design purposes," said Brian Haughton, organiser of 'Art Antiques Design Dubai'.

"Two influencing factors include the Arabian traditions of developing art for decorative uses in addition to the growing appetite for priceless artworks as luxury homeowners decorate their newly acquired homes," added Haughton.

1st dibs.com will team with high-profile, New York based interior designer and architect, Stephen Miller Siegel, who will oversee the design using pieces from member dealers of The Art and Antique Dealers League of America, Inc (AADLA), and the exhibiting dealers at 'Art Antiques Design Dubai'. The AADLA is the oldest and principal antiques and fine arts organization in America with over 100 fine art and antiques dealers in 80 fields of expertise.
