Unique applications to help users in utilities, telecommunications organisations and government agencies in the Middle East improve design and management of infrastructure

OMNIX International, a leading regional technology service provider and integrator in the Middle East and regional distributor of Autodesk products, has announced its plans to showcase four revolutionary Autodesk applications under 'Infrastructure Modeling and Data Asset Management Solutions' at the 'Map Middle East 2009', which is slated to run from April 26 - 28, 2009 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). The new applications developed by the world leader in 2D and 3D design software for the manufacturing, building, media and entertainment markets, have been designed to help users in utilities, telecommunications organisations and government agencies in the Middle East, improve the design and management of infrastructure assets.

Governments across the region are taking significant steps in terms of enhancing their infrastructure projects with aims of stimulating their local economies amidst the global financial crisis. Today, billions of dollars are being invested by KSA, Qatar and the UAE in infrastructure improvement, thereby underlining the importance of efficient design and effective management in this aspect. In Dubai, plans for ongoing infrastructure projects such as the Dubai Metro, and the new airport, bridges and roads has increased the emirate's 2009 budget by 20 per cent from USD 37 billion in 2008, while Abu Dhabi plans to spend USD 275 billion on infrastructure projects over the next five years. In line with this, Autodesk's Infrastructure solutions are poised for excellent growth as demand for tools to enhance design and management of these infrastructure projects significantly rises.

"The launch of the 2010 version of Autodesk Infrastructure solutions for utilities spells increased efficiency in engineering design, construction as-builts, operations and maintenance for both private organisations and government projects, especially in this time when aging assets, capital constraints, a changing workforce, and the emerging public interest in sustainability are increasing pressure to 'do more with less'," said Dr. Jayant M. Deshpande, Director, CAD Division, OMNIX. "By using Autodesk Infrastructure Solutions, customers are equipped to further improve the design of new systems and manage already constructed infrastructure more efficiently. We have high expectations that our latest Infrastructure Solutions will gather significant attention during 'Map Middle East 2009', which will provide a boost to the software's adoption and utilization across the region's private and public sectors."

Set to provide users with an intelligent and comprehensive solution for designing, visualizing, simulating and analyzing infrastructure assets and development plans, the 2010 version of Autodesk's Infrastructure Solutions is headlined by 'Autodesk Topobase 2010', infrastructure model management software, which helps organizations to manage and operate infrastructure assets like water, waste water, electricity, transportation, telecommunication and other government utilities. The software helps clients make better decisions by integrating CAD and GIS information into a comprehensive infrastructure model for a more complete view of assets and also provides a single source of accurate network information for maintenance, planning, reporting, and integration into asset management and operational systems.

A powerful mapping platform for delivering CAD and GIS information quickly, easily, and cost-effectively via the web, 'MapGuide Enterprise 2010' complements the users' need to maximise the value of design and spatial data through sharing with customers and internal teams, and integrating the collected information with enterprise applications. In addition, 'AutoCAD Raster Design 2010' is an application that can turn scanned paper drawings, maps, satellite images, aerial photos and similar digital imagery into digital CAD data, thereby enabling engineers and designers to incorporate them into infrastructure models. Completing Autodesk's newest range of Infrastructure Solutions is 'AutoCAD Map 3D 2010', which brings together geospatial, civil engineering and utility network data into a common computer aided design (CAD) environment.

"Efficient design and management of infrastructure is a key area of focus for all developing economies, especially in the areas of designing smart electric utility grids, planning city projects, and managing complex telecommunications networks. As a result, infrastructure modeling and integrated digital models have gained popularity among industry professionals for enabling them to make better, faster decisions. With more government and private organisations investing in adopting and implementing geospatial technologies as a component to their existing or new work flow management systems, our goal is to provide them with technology-driven design and asset management solutions that support the entire infrastructure modeling process," concluded Manish Bhardwaj, Field Marketing Specialist, Autodesk, Middle East.
