Muscat - Oman American Business Center (OABC) will hold its fourth speed networking event at the Grand Hyatt Muscat on November 17th 2015. The event will be organized in partnership with Startup Oman, the home of entrepreneurship in the Sultanate, and will be supported by Grand Hyatt and Qatar Airways, who kindly contributed few surprises for the attending guests.
The fourth OABC Speed Networking event is in partnership with SAS for Entrepreneurship, National Business Center, The Lounge and Inspired Solutions and is being developed as part of the center's participation in the ninth annual Global Entrepreneurship Week, the world's largest celebration of start-ups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth, and positively impact human welfare. Set to provide attendees with the opportunity to connect with more than 30 business people during the one-hour non-stop networking session, the event participants will be introduced in rotation and given one minute each to brief their counterpart on their company and explore the possibility of collaboration.
"Providing opportunities for Omani SMEs to connect with business leaders who may be in search of their services is just one way that Startup Oman is helping entrepreneurs grow. Beyond that, we are also hosting our pre-event at The Lounge to help SMEs hone their skills at pitching their company in 2 minutes, a requirement of the speed networking event", said Managing Partner, Sherry Colbourne. He added: "All in all, SMEs will walk away from the event with a new skill and the potential to foster new contacts."
Khalifa Al Mukheini, Managing Director of SIMPA Marketing and Research Consultancy and SME member of OABC, who was participating in previous OABC events also commented, "The Speed Networking initiatives are integral for SMEs to connect with key organizations and individuals. While the one minute pitch may seem daunting at first, it will help SME owners develop the ability to make a 60 second 'elevator pitch' that will concisely and comprehensively showcase their business to strangers."
The Speed Networking event is open to the public and interested companies. SMEs that register for the event will also be able to partake in a training seminar held at TheLoungeOman on the 16th of November 2015. During the workshop, OABC and StartUp Oman will share critical networking skills and teach SME owners how to deliver effective pitches. For more information please contact oabc@oabcoman.org.
