Hologram to provide proof of authenticity

Dubai: Al Fakher, UAE-based producers of flavoured shisha tobacco, and National Trading & Developing Est. (NTDE), exclusive distributor for Al Fakher products in the UAE, have now introduced the NTDE-Al Fakher hologram to authenticate its products sold in the UAE.

The NTDE-Al Fakher hologram is a sticker that is now being used on the packaging of all Al Fakher products sold in the emirates. The hologram sticker provides a guarantee that the customer is buying a genuine Al Fakher product, said Ebad Ahmadi, Director of Tobacco Division, NTDE. 

He explained that NTDE, exclusive distributor of Al Fakher products in the UAE since 2001, had over the past few months received feedback from customers that some Al Fakher shisha products were of low quality. After investigating the market for about six months, it found that the situation was caused by fakes being sold in the market.

"To protect our customers against fakes, NTDE and Al Fakher decided that all Al Fakher products sold in the UAE would carry the NTDE-Al Fakher hologram sticker as proof of origin. Customers need to ensure that they only buy products carrying this hologram sticker," Mr. Ahmadi said.

He explained that the NTDE-Al Fakher hologram sticker offered a quality guarantee and secured customers against the danger of buying fake products. He added that the recent NTDE market study had highlighted again the threats that consumers faced from the presence of fakes. Both companies, he said, were committed to not only delivering quality products but also to supporting initiatives that fostered market growth.

NTDE will also be taking legal action against those selling fakes in the local market. In a further move to discourage the sale of fake products, the company last month launched a new promotion that reduced the price of Al Fakher products sold in the emirates.

Established in the emirates in 1999, Al Fakher is today one of the leading flavoured tobacco brands in the country. It presently holds a 60 per cent market share in the UAE, which the company attributes to the wide choice of products that it is able to offer customers. Available to shoppers are flavours ranging from fruit to coffee and mint.
