NOV ASEP Elmar, a global market leader in the design and manufacture of wireline pressure control equipment, has opened a new 10,000sqft facility in Dubai to boost its supply of locally manufactured equipment across the Middle East.
The expansion adds more than 30 jobs to the company's regional base, bringing its total headcount in Dubai to around 100.
The UK-headquartered firm has enhanced its product portfolio for the Middle East market, adding production of wireline pressure control equipment, tubular completion products, grease and hydraulic control modules, pressure test units and wireline winches to its local manufacturing capacity.
Further expansion is expected over the next few years as it looks to meet increased demand for these types of high technology products.
NOV ASEP Elmar said it has already delivered its first tubular completion equipment order to Halliburton in Iraq following the investment to increase manufacturing capacity.
The newly expanded 3 unit facility, located in the Oilfield Supply Centre in Jebel Ali, opens on the 10th anniversary of NOV ASEP Elmar's entry into the Middle East and it is now one of the company's largest manufacturing and service plants.
The firm has also recently opened a new service facility in Saudi Arabia to provide faster mobilisation and service support to customers in the area.
It has increased its customer portfolio in the region as well as winning further business from existing customers including Schlumberger, Halliburton, Baker Hughes and Weatherford.
Brian King, general manager of NOV ASEP Elmar Middle East, said: "In the last 10 years since establishing our Middle East operation, we have seen considerable growth throughout the region. We are winning a lot of new business while sustaining and growing our current business, and expansion of our existing facilities allows us to service the increased demand for the long term.
"Our market share in the Middle East is growing rapidly. We have long-established relations with all the major service companies and supply equipment for oilfields in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, Yemen, Brunei, Qatar, Oman and the United Arab Emirates. These are key growth areas for NOV ASEP Elmar where there continues to be many opportunities in the wireline business.
"We are seeing an increase in demand for NOV ASEP Elmar's pressure control equipment, due to our customers current requirement for safety critical equipment having a robust and third party approved design."
Mr King continued: "The next stage of our internationalisation plan includes expansion into India, which is another region with enormous scope for certified high-end wireline pressure control and tubular completion technology.″
This expansion follows an earlier investment announced in 2008 to expand the company's premises in Jebel Ali, which also resulted in the addition of more than 30 employees at the facility.
NOV ASEP Elmar employs around 900 employees across its manufacturing and service locations in Europe, North and South America, Middle East and Far East.
The company is a product group of Houston-based National Oilwell Varco (NOV), which operates in over 700 locations around the world, employing over 40,000 people.
