Borne of the halo of Dubai's success, emerging developments across Northern Emirates will have a lasting impact on UAE's real estate and infrastructure outlook and profile.

Northern Emirates, 13 January 2008: "After staying on the sidelines of economic boom - in evidence in big brother cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi - the Emirates in the north of the country seem to be emerging from the mists of obscurity to claim their share of glory and economic windfalls," said Tessa Morris, Marketing Director, DSL Exhibitions, on the announcement of the company's first R&R Local Property Show, primarily focused on the Northern Emirates' real estate market. She also announced the launch of a consumer opinion survey the company is launching, aimed at discovering UAE residents' key thoughts that directly connect with residential opportunities being offered in this part of the country.

"We are now witnessing a definite sense of urgency amongst all partners involved in the development of Northern Emirates - government authorities, policy makers and developers," said Tessa. "The impact of this momentum will definitely affect the whole of the UAE."

"The Northern Emirates - Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah - become increasingly lucrative destinations for property investments and has the opportunity to invest in development and build a strong self sufficient economy. This will attract more visitors, at the same time residents will contribute towards sustaining such growth", said Debashis Bose, Training & Development Officer, Emirates Group.

The R&R Local Property Show moves to the Northern Emirates for the first time in its 5 year history, with the first exhibition outside Dubai planned on the 8th and 9th February 2008. Speaking on the announcement of the dates, Tessa added: "2007 witnessed the rise of Northern Emirates in no uncertain terms, with hundreds of projects worth billions of dirhams moving from paper to site, while several hundred more were put to plan."

Roger Wilkinson, Managing Director of Northern Emirates Property and founder of the website www.ajmanproperty.com, who has been involved with all the projects in Ajman for the last ten years, said: "It has been an interesting to see the growth and interest in Ajman over the years, it really has a lot more to offer than most people realise. There are still good opportunities available as seen on our web site, but I do recommend quick action to avoid disappointment!"

Platinum Sponsor - Chapal World will also be launching new projects at the show. They have long held the opinion that the Northern Emirates will witness huge growth over the next few years. They are already selling the Emerald City Project. Ahmed Chapal - Executive Director of Chapal World said:  "The advantageous location of Emirates City on Main Emirates Road is the timely answer to the growing need of affordable mid segment housing requirements outside of Dubai. Reading this demand ahead of time, Chapal World introduced and continues to offer innovative property investment opportunities that are attractive to investors seeking healthy rental and investment returns in the Northern Emirates."

Work in progress

Development work on projects assumed frenetic pace in the Northern Emirates during the year, with deliveries already happening or slated for 2008-2010. Ajman has emerged as by far the pack leader among its neighbors in the Northern Emirates, with literally billions of dollars being committed to several flagship projects. In February 2007, Ajman authorities announced that US$ 7bn worth of real estate projects had been released since 2004 and four new projects were in the pipeline. The statement said that two of the upcoming projects will cost a combined total of $15bn.

Sharjah wasn't far behind. Sharjah government's development plans of a US$177m Sports City, covering an area of four square kilometers and Al Hanoo Holding's launch of the first phase of its Nujoom Islands project, which will include 70 residential and commercial towers, 350 townhouses, 320 villas and a five star hotel, were key attractions announced. Ras Al Khaimah, which has been focusing on becoming a business and maritime centre in its own right, as well as Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah had success stories of their own to recount.

Unique offering

As the only show dedicated to providing a platform for local real estate-related businesses, including developers, banks, finance providers and mortgage brokers, the R&R Local Property Show also represents an opportunity for companies offering lifestyle solutions products and services such as insurance, furniture and financial advice.

The Show will be held at Ajman as the Emirate is centrally located and easily accessible from all parts of the Northern Emirates. The venue is The Ajman Kempinksi Hotel and the show will be held on 8th and 9th February 2008 from 10.00am - 10.00pm. The show will still contain all of its popular elements

Property Wall where visitors can post their properties for rent or sale for free.
