"Dubai Airport Free Zone gives importance to safety and fire protection issues" - Nasser Madani, Assistant Director General, DAFZ

DUBAI - The latest in fire suppression and prevention technology and an environmentally friendly and cost effective way of cooling outdoor areas using dry mist spray was introduced in Dubai recently.

The launch of the two produfcts was held during the formal inauguration of the regional office of Nohmi Middle East at Dubai Airport Free Zone (DAFZ). The inauguration of the Japanese company, an innovator and setter of new trends joins equally prestigious multinationals with offices in the Free Zone.

The inauguration of Nohmi Middle East, which is listed in the Tokyo Stock Exchange, was attended by the Japanese Consul General in Dubai, HE Mr. Hiroyasu Kobayashi, top officials from Nohmi in Japan and DAFZ officials led by Mr. Nasser Madani, Assistant Director General of DAFZ and leading clients.

"We in Dubai Airport Free Zone give considerable importance to safety and fire protection issues and hence encourage companies operating in this area," said Mr Madani in his speech welcoming the company to Dubai. "We have over 12 years experience in dealing with major international conglomerates, we have become very selective, and companies which join DAFZ are joining an elite list of clientele."

Mr. Madani added DAFZ has recently instituted a new Health and Safety Business Award for organisations and establishments operating within the Free Zone, of which one award is dedicated to fire protection.

"We have also been honoured with the 'Fire Protection and Safety Award" granted by the Dubai Ports, Customs and FZ Authority."

Addressing officials and guests at the inauguration, the Japanese envoy said the Japanese are good at designing and manufacturing products that are efficient and reliable. "You only realise that it's there when they are required in an emergency like fire extinguishers for example."

Mr Kobayashi said Nohmi Middle East celebrated actual operations in October of last year and welcomed Mr. Keji Osa, Head of Office of Nohmi in Dubai, "As a valued member of the Japanese community who is not only a senior engineer but a talented guitarist."

Mr. Keiji Kageyama, Deputy Director and General Manager of the International Division of Nohmi Bosai said the company, established in 1924 is No. 1 in sales in Japan. It is involved in the design and manufacture of fire detection, alarm and suppression system known as NN 100 which uses nitrogen gas which extinguishes fire by depriving it of oxygen. He said the product is clean and environment friendly and does not damage furniture unlike the more conventional sprinkler system.

He added the system has been proven in the Middle East and Africa and was installed in Kuwait and Kenya. In Dubai HH 100 has been installed in DEWA and in Etisalat offices.

"The Nohmi office in DAFZ will be a sales and technical support office for the GCC region and Africa and support expansion plans of Nohmi in the Middle East."

Also introduced was "Dry Mist," which sprays mist outdoors resulting in a cooler pleasant environment and costs just a quarter when compared to traditional environment. "Dry Mist" systems are installed in Osaka, Japan, Taiwan, the US, China and last year in India.

"International companies find the DAFZ location ideal," said Mr. Madani, being close to The Dubai Cargo Village with its state-of-the-art facility, adjoining the Dubai International Airport and housing facilities for Dnata, Customs, Airlines, Immigration and Chamber of Commerce which are easily accessible to companies in the Dubai Airport Free Zone.

The online electronic services of the Dubai Airport Free Zone simplifies the procedures and allows customers of the zone to interact for a variety of services from anywhere in the world.

Facilities such as Conference Room, Lecture Hall, and Business Lounge, 24-hour Security Services, Restaurants, Postal Services, Travel Agencies, Banks and Duty Free Shop make the Dubai Airport Free Zone a self-contained location for maximum business efficiency.
