Heriot-Watt University is pleased to announce the launch of the MSc in Islamic Banking & Finance, which is scheduled to commence at Heriot-Watt University Dubai Campus (HWUDC) from September 2019. This is one of the first specialised Post-Graduate qualifications in Islamic finance in the UAE, which is designed to develop skilled professionals in Islamic banking, Islamic Fintech, Takaful, Sukuk and other capital market instruments.

This programme launch is envisaged as part of a broad-based action plan of the University’s internationalisation strategy, which will also include the creation of a Global Research Centre for Islamic Finance, collaborations with Islamic finance industry, executive education and training programmes in Islamic finance. With this, Heriot Watt reinforces its ongoing commitments towards the vision of the Government of Dubai to transform Dubai as the ‘Capital of Islamic Economy’. HWUDC is also honored to have a strategic collaboration with the Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre on several collaborative initiatives, and to be a part the highly prestigious Global Islamic Economic Summit (GIES) 2018.

Heriot-Watt University is committed to respond to the growing demand for highly skilled professionals within the Islamic banking and finance owing to the enormous growth potential and employment opportunities in Islamic finance industry in the MENA region.

This programme structure includes eight taught courses, plus a specialised dissertation in Islamic accounting and finance. The taught courses capture all cognate areas of Islamic banking and finance, plus several core subjects in finance and accounting. As with the other existing programmes, this progamme can be completed in 1 year (full-time) or 2 years (part-time).
