Dubai - The new MINI Cabrio has made its much anticipated debut in The UAE. The small car with substance in abundance enters this market the same year the MINI brand celebrates its 50th birthday. With all the flair and refreshment of driving in the open air, the new edition oozes the very best in performance, looks and versatility.
Superior features in terms of design, quality, handling, performance, safety, efficiency and functionality ensure that the second edition of the MINI Cabrio consistently raises the bar. The new edition to the MINI family builds cleverly upon its forerunner and boasts some of the leading technologies features in its class.
The most advanced and sophisticated suspension technology, tougher bodyworks, an invisible rollover bar behind the rear seats, activated in the event of a possible rollover and strengthened A-pillars make for the best protection possible in the unlikely event of a collision.
Even while driving at a speed of up to 30 km/h, the soft top folds back fully automatically in just 15 seconds, giving the new MINI Cabrio its true purpose and quality. This is a car simply begging for driving in the open air for any weather condition, even challenging the driver to use the unique Always-Open timer. A unique feature typical of MINI Cabrio, the Openometer records the time spent by the owner driving with the top down.
"A new chapter in MINI's history has been unleashed; the latest incarnation offers the very best in innovation, style and performance, further confirming MINI as the class leader. We have no doubt that the new MINI Cabrio will be popular in the UAE" said, Mr. Stathis I. Stathis, General Manager of AGMC.
He continued, "AGMC has been the exclusive importer of MINI in Dubai, Sharjah and the Nothern Emirates since BMW launched the new edition of MINI in 2002. Since then, MINI has enjoyed a strong and loyal customer base here in the UAE where people love its individuality and unique style. The MINI Cabrio continues this evolution and is the perfect vehicle to zip around the streets with style and vigor".
Exterior design highlights include a raised shoulder line, low roof line, short overhangs at both front and rear denoting the MINI Cabrio's sporting intent. With no less than 12 paintwork colours and contrasting roof options, black, denim blue and hot chocolate adds optimum visual appeal and increases option customisation.
Available in two 1.6 litre model variants, the MINI Cooper S Cabrio comes with a twin turbo charged direct fuel injection petrol engine producing a maximum output of 175 hp at an engine speed of 5,500 rpm at a top speed of 217 km/h. The MINI Cooper Cabrio, a four-cylinder petrol engine with fully variable valve management produces 120 hp at 6,600 rpm at a top speed of 191 km/h offering that same go-kart feeling with convincing economy at all times.
Tecnologies based on MINI's sustainabilty strategy, called MINIMALISM, feature widely on the car including Auto Start Stop, Brake Energy Regeneration and Shift Point Display complete the line-up of technologies supplied on the new MINI Cabrio Cooper and MINI Cooper S models.
Outstanding fuel economy, low CO2 emissions and high performance equate to low running costs, which minimise environmental impact which makes it a positive drive experience every time.
Clever use of space, a philosophy at MINI has of course been incorporated into the latest model. An easy-load boot compartment now has a capacity of 125 litres (up from 120) with the roof open and 170 litres with the roof closed (previously 165). With the rear seat folded down and roof closed, luggage space totals 660 litres, 55 litres more than the previous MINI Cabrio with the total capacity shapping up to be 1,598cc.
