All-woman team to battle against 40 other teams at inaugural event
NETGEAR, a worldwide provider of technologically advanced and branded networking products, has announced its sponsorship of the only all-women team called the 'NETGEAR Flying Angels', who will be competing at the first 'Red Bull Flug Tag' competition in Kuwait. Red Bull Flug Tag is an internationally renowned event that has toured more than 25 countries worldwide and is being held at the Marina Waves, Kuwait on November 02, 2007. The 'NETGEAR Flying Angels' team will engage in a physically and mentally challenging test to pilot its homemade flying contraption off a six-metre high ramp.
The company aims to communicate, through the beauty and quality of the aircraft, its own standards in style and design maintained throughout its range of wireless and storage products. Forty selected teams of up to five members each will be chosen to soar over the Marina Waves shores, with the winning team set to bring home KD 3000. Winners are expected to score maximum points on the basis of the distance flown, the creativity displayed in creating over-the-top flying machines, and on overall performance.

Using only human power, the Red Bull Flug Tag contestants must be able to launch a flying machine made out of any material, with a maximum width of eight metres and weight of 180 kilograms. Accordingly the teams and their flying machines will be judged based on set criteria, which includes the distance travelled by the aircraft, the team's integration of best design in their contraption and their performance level in the 90-second pre-flight show.
