In respect to the new service network plans, His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said grants Royal Orders to the Muscat Municipality to commence the design and implementation of a number of upgrading road construction and lighting projects between Yiti and Al Sifah.
MUSCAT - March 21, 2012: In a recent statement, His Excellency Sultan bin Hamdoon al Harthy, Chairman of Muscat Municipality unveiled news about Royal directives by His Majesty to upgrade the Yiti - Sifah road into a modern carriageway.
The upgrading plans are set to include road network development and lighting projects of the 26km roadway tying between Yiti and Al Sifah, Wilayat Muscat.
The Board of Directors of Muriya Development, the owning and managing company of Jebel Sifah - the Sultanate's newest residential & touristic development, warmly received the news with great appreciation of the new momentum for economic and tourism development in this special area of the capital city.
Mr. Wael Al Lawati, CEO of Omran - a 30% stake owner of Muriya Development said, "These Royal directives are set to put Sifah on the path to accelerated tourism and economic development. Omran is committed to playing its part in realizing the tourism potential of this pristine corner of the capital region."
When completed, the road project will serve as a new lifeline through which investment will inevitably flow into Sifah, hitherto a quiet fishing village but now at the cusp of development into a new leisure and entertainment hub of Muscat.
Dr. Gerhard Niesslein, CEO, Orascom Development Holding - a 70% stakeholder of Muriya Development stated, "It's a fantastic development. The new carriageway will make the 26km distance between Yiti and Sifah a breeze, thereby opening up this delightful waterfront locale to greater numbers of tourists and visitors."
The international-class road itself will be an attraction in its own right, affording motorists the thrills of a ride through twisting mountainous terrain with splendid panoramas en route. Street-lighting and signposts will add to the ease of driving at night as well. Moreover, with the commute between the city centre and Sifah set to be dramatically reduced, this welcoming waterfront will be within easy reach for a lunch engagement, a candle-light dinner date, a tranquil weekend at Jebel Sifah or an exhilarating night out at the marina.
