Six years after its launch, the Dubai World of Perishables Exhibition - WOP - has established itself as a gateway for fresh produce to the Middle East, which is a market where consumption of these foods is registering one of the biggest growth rates at the international level. This annual gathering is poised to become an annual business platform for professionals of this sector in the region.
Mr. Othmane Michabl, Head of the Department for External Relations and Communication at the EACCE, said: "Morocco's participation in the 2015 DUBAI WOP exhibition is a real opportunity to explore new possibilities for business partnerships and to communicate about the Moroccan exportable supply, which could offer significant growth prospects in this market".
Organized on an area of about 8000 m2, the Dubai WOP, during its previous edition, had brought together more than 170 companies from 24 countries and registered a flow of more than 5400 visitors. Known for its marketing vocation, this exhibition offers real opportunities for bringing together producers
and buyers of fresh fruits and vegetables at the regional and international levels.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a big agri-food products trade platform in the Gulf region. Characterized by strong domestic demand, this market is also considered as a real multicultural hub which reveals as a re-export hub for the region's markets.
Agri-food products exported by Morocco to this destination registered an upward trend since a few years. Indeed, Morocco's exported volume towards this destination has tripled since 2011. The main products exported to this market are citrus fruits and tomatoes with a volume share of 50%.
Morocco's participation in this event aims at achieving the following goals:
· Promoting the Morocco origin and exhibiting the quality and diversity of Moroccan fresh fruits and vegetables;
· Communicating about these products and their competitive advantages in order to strengthen their position in the international market ;
· Seizing the opportunity of the presence of major industry stakeholders to meet with partners and open prospects to develop new partnerships and penetrate into new markets ;
· Highlighting the potential, achievements and projections of the development of this sector in the framework of the Green Morocco Plan.
All these goals can be achieved, thanks to the efforts invested in the framework of the «Green Morocco Plan» strategy, to improve the quality, value and label of the agricultural products. In order to ensure a distinguished participation in this Exhibition, the EACCE has booked a pavilion extending over 204 m² and hosting 18 Moroccan companies in order to offer visitors a wide range of agricultural products (citrus, early vegetables, berries, Rosaceae fruits, avocado, mango, etc.).
This event will also help establish a platform for exchange, sharing and discussion between actors from Morocco and their counterparts from UAE and the Gulf countries in general, through an intensive program of B to B meetings.
