September 2012 Index Highlights:
- Monster Employment Index Middle East rises 10 percent on an annual basis
- Retail/Trade and Logistics leads all industry sectors in annual growth; followed by Production/Manufacturing, Automotive and Ancillary. Consumer goods and Chemicals record double digit negative annual growth in September
- Among occupation groups, Sales and BD exhibit strongest growth year-over-year; followed by Hospitality and Travel occupations
- UAE leads all countries in annual growth
The Monster Employment Index is a monthly gauge of online job posting activity in Middle-East based on a real-time review of tens of thousands of employer job opportunities culled from a large representative selection of career Web sites and online job listings. The Index does not reflect the trend of any one advertiser or source, but is an aggregate measure of the change in job listings across the industry.
"While The Monster Employment Index Middle East registers a positive annual growth, the employers are cautious about ramping up hiring activity in the region owing to the current global economic scenario," said Sanjay Modi, Managing Director, Monster.com (India/ Middle- East/ South East Asia).

Industry Year-over-Year Trends: Online opportunities exceeded September'11 levels in six of the 12 industry sectors monitored by the index.
- Retail/Trade and Logistics (up 19 percent) continued to lead all sectors followed by Production/Manufacturing, Automotive and Ancillary, Public Relations, Media and Entertainment (18 percent)
- Hospitality (up 16 percent), Engineering, Construction and Real Estate (up 10 percent) remained amidst the top growth sectors in September
- Consumer Goods/ FMCG, Food & Packaged Food , Home Appliance, Garments/ Textiles/ Leather, Gems & Jewellery (down 19 percent) sector registered the steepest annual decline

Occupation Year-over-Year Trends: Six of 11 occupation groups registered improved online demand over the year
- Sales and BD (up 34 percent) led all occupational groups in year-over-year growth
- Hospitality and Travel (up 17 percent) and Software, Hardware, Telecom (up 15 percent) saw increased demand over the year
- Legal (down 31 percent) professionals continued to register the weakest long-term trend

Geographic Year-over-year Trends: Online opportunities exceeded September'11 level in five of the seven countries monitored by the Index.
- UAE (up 27 percent) followed by Qatar (up 20 percent) led all countries in year-over-year growth
- KSA (down 19 percent) registered the steepest decline over the past 12 months

- Online recruitment activity in KSA declines 19 percent from September'11 level
- Oil and Gas (up 17 percent) registers the most notable annual growth
- Hospitality and Travel (up 40 percent) leads in annual growth amongst the occupation groups

UAE Highlights
- UAE registers robust annual growth of 27 percent
- Production/Manufacturing, Automotive and Ancillary (up 33 percent) records the most notable growth in online opportunities over the year
- Sales and BD (up 29 percent) leads in annual growth amongst the occupation groups
