Dubai, UAE – KOA, a unique real estate concept that aims to bring a new definition to residential living in the UAE, is at the forefront of up-and-coming trend, Upcycling, typically the domain of the design students and local markets in Al Serkal and Al Quoz. The first of its kind in the construction and property industry, Canvas has demonstrated the creative reuse (upcycling) of an existing office block to launch a sustainable, residential haven in Dubai. KOA was created by Mohammed Bin Zaal, former CEO of Al Barari, with the aim of leading Dubai’s real estate industry into a new era of cultural and urban enrichment that contributes to the soul of a dynamic new Dubai.
The Canvas building was stripped back to its shell and built outwards again, recycling some materials as well as creating a new architectural masterpiece on a blank, concrete canvas. At the heart of the concept, the aim was to connect culture, nature and unmatched amenities in one creative space. Canvas has been built with a sustainable mindset, using specific materials and structural elements such as grey quartzite stone cladding, copper mesh and sustainably-sourced, thermally-modified tulipwood to reduce AC consumption.
Mohammed Zaal, CEO of KOA and visionary behind Canvas said: “KOA’s mission is to develop urban ecosystems representing innovation, substance and craftsmanship. We have taken this a step further with Canvas to reuse an existing building to upcycle creatively to offer the people of Dubai a sanctuary from the city, a creative hub for inspired collaboration or simply a family home. It offers a new approach to modern living in Dubai merging old with new – craftsmanship with striking modernity and innovation in design. Design means everything to us and upcycling has provided an extra way to create new and innovative living spaces.”
‘Canvas’ is located near Mohammed bin Rashid Gardens, off the Emirates Road, offering its residents peace and tranquility with landscaped gardens and vast expanses of green space. Canvas is offering studio, one, two and three bedroom apartment floor plans, with several layout options for available. Canvas will have an unmatched range of features & facilities including the gourmet market, daycare facilities, fitness studios, swimming pool, water features, landscaped gardens, barbecue areas, a co-working space and art displays around the grounds.
