Activity an instant hit among Promising Leaders, Young Leaders and Government Leaders Program participants as it stimulates systematic thinking and innovation
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Program for Leadership Development (MBRPLD), an innovative youth-oriented leadership program, has announced that it has recently concluded "The Book Summary Review" sessions with candidates of the Promising Leaders and Government Leaders Programs, two key components of MBRPLD. The Promising Leaders Program participants reviewed and discussed with an audience two books - "Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap... and Others Don't" by Jim Collins and "Emotional Intelligence" by Daniel Goleman - while Government Leaders Program participants were assigned the book "Blue Ocean Strategy" by W. Chan Kim and Renè Mauborgne.
Adel Al Shared, Director of MBRPLD said: "The Book Summary Review sessions were fantastic. The ideas the two books brought forward were exceptionally informative and thought-provoking; these books were exactly the kind of literature we were looking for. Jim Collins' book demystified the apparently uncanny ability of some companies to pull ahead of the competition. The lessons were clear, crisp and without a doubt boosted the confidence of the participants in their own skills and potential to lead."
"The Blue Ocean Strategy was another fascinating read, which stimulated and encouraged the Government Leaders Program participants to literally think out of the box. Focusing on innovation, it offered a more dynamic approach towards addressing problems and challenges, which is based on creating value-oriented solutions or products. The response from the candidates has been incredible and I look forward to more instructive, intellectually stimulating book reading sessions in the coming months on a regular basis," added Al Shared.
"This activity is characterised as being administered by the participants themselves, which gives them the opportunity to generate new ideas and conduct discussions to further enrich and explore these ideas. They accomplish this on their own initiative, without any condition imposed by an instructor or the systematic methodology of a teacher, which helps develop their skills in scrutinising new and innovative global principles and values," concluded Adel.
The MBRPLD is a unique leadership program initiated by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to emphasise the crucial role of competent and prepared leaders in the country's sustained development. MBRPLD includes four levels: Promising Leaders, Young Leaders, Government Leaders, and DG Majlis.
