Abu Dhabi, 19 April, 2010: Ministry of Finance (MoF) announced today that it had established the Oracle Financial System in four federal agencies. These agencies are Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA), the National Media Council and the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments. This system will increase their efficiency through the usage of information technology and e-government services. It also follows best global practice in managing financial resources and achieving sustainable development.

The announcement was made at the launch ceremony held at MoF headquarters in Abu Dhabi that was attended by HE Mosbah Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of Support Services in the Ministry, HE Abdul Rahim Al Zarooni, Executive Director of Public Financial Management Sector and HE Saeed Al Yateem, Executive Director of Resources and Budget Sector, HE Ibrahim Al Abed, Director General of the National Media Council, in addition to representatives of ESMA, General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowment and the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources. The event was also attended by MoF department directors and trainees from federal agencies.

"I am pleased to announce that this new system will allow us to implement more modern tools and techniques in financial management in federal ministries and authorities. I am also pleased by MoF's role in preparing and installing the system and training the employees of these authorities to use this system in a short period of time. The ministry relied only on its internal staff to do this work," HE Abdul Rahim Al Zarooni, Executive Director of Financial Management Sector in MoF said at the launch ceremony.

MoF installed the Oracle Financial System in all federal ministries in 2009 and aims to strategically develop the government's services and dependence on information communication technology. It will continue installing the system in all federal agencies in 2010 and 2011.

HE Al Zarouni praised the general directors of the four federal authorities, directors of departments and staff who played important roles in the success of the project.

Finally, the Ministry of Finance honored representatives of the four federal authorities, in addition to distributing training certificates to all staff who undertook the training courses. These employees will be able to raise the level of work quality at their financial departments.
