The Egyptian Company for Mobile Services 'MobiNil' has obtained the ISO 14001 certificate for successfully developing an integrated system for environment protection, thus becoming the first telecom operator in Egypt and the Middle East to acquire the internationally recognized official statement.
MobiNil was awarded the certificate, by TUV certification body of Germany, for adopting and successfully implementing an environmental management system (EMS) that provides high quality & safe mobile service which conforms to Egypt's safety regulations as well as the international telecommunication standards for ensuring maximum environmental protection for the local community.
'Being the first operator in Egypt & the Middle East to acquire ISO 14001 Certificate is the culmination of MobiNil's efforts, since May 1998, to provide the Egyptian market with a world-class mobile service via the safest and most environment-friendly telecommunication operations', said Osman Sultan, CEO & President of MobiNil.
'We've been guided, in achieving maximum environment protection for the local community, by our full awareness of the importance of addressing health & environment concerns in today's technology-dominated world', added Osman Sultan.
The certificate was granted to Naguib Sawiris, MobiNil's Chairman, by Malcolm Lughi, TUV Germany's representative on July 18th 2001 at MobiNil premises.
'Having visited many base stations operated by MobiNil at various locations throughout the country, we've made sure that the company's network complies with Egypt's environmental safety standards', said Hossam El Garhy, the lead auditor of TUV office in Egypt.
'The commitment of MobiNil's top management to get the company's mobile operations to conform to environmental safety criteria has been translated, at all the company's administrative levels, into tangible action plans along with systems for the early detection & prevention of deviations', El Garhy pointed out.
