As a key sponsor of Dubai Summer Surprises, Dubai Refreshments Co brings wonderful thirst quenchers in exciting flavours to the summer event for the fourth consecutive year

Beat the heat this summer with Mirinda. Dubai Summer Surprises packs in the punch of Mirinda and brings a much-needed respite from stifling heat in the form of cool thirst quenchers to keep you hydrated all summer long. Dubai Refreshments Company, the sole franchisee and distributor for PepsiCo and Mirinda in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, one of the 13 key sponsors of this year's summer fiesta, has lined up a wholesome array of promotional activities and fun events to enthrall children of all ages. Though the company has been supporting DSS since 2003 this is the first time that their brand Mirinda is sponsoring the annual summer event.

A thirst quencher with a pleasant zing, Mirinda is a favourite with kids. This DSS children get a chance to enjoy this punchy drink as a refreshing, cool treat at several DSS venues. Modhesh Fun City at the Dubai World Trade Center will remain the key attraction offering Mirinda throughout Dubai Summer Surprises 2006 with Mirinda marvel character Superman.

May El Labban, Marketing Projects Manager, Dubai Refreshments Company (DRC), said: "We are delighted to support DSS for the fourth straight year and are thrilled with the way the summer event has continued to grow. DSS is now a genuine, world-class event and boon for regional tourism to Dubai."

She added, "Through our involvement in DSS and our ongoing association with Dubai Shopping Festival Pepsi and its portfolio of great drinks brands are an integral part of the two biggest social and cultural events on the Dubai Calendar and that's a reflection of how successful Pepsi has become in the UAE," she said.

"Mirinda appeals to a younger, 'tween' audience, which is more in tune with the profile of DSS, its fun mascot, Modhesh and hundreds of youngsters that flock to Modhesh Fun City every day throughout the summer fiesta."

Two children's play areas in a dedicated hall at the Modhesh Fun City engage the little ones in some fun play. A drawing board with photo opportunities will also be on display besides numerous games and contests. A host of team and individual games will be organised by Mirinda and Mirinda-branded premiums to the winners and participants. Weekly draws will also be held to further boost the competition and to encourage the winners.

There will be Mirinda and Superman drawing competitions every day, and amazing gifts to be won, like Superman T-shirts, wall clocks, stationery sets, squeezers, and lots and lots of free, refreshing Mirinda can. Apart from sporting fun there will also be some mind games like the life-size Superman puzzle game.

Two major promotions by the company in association with Emarat have also been lined up to bring a summer full of refreshing fun.

Also the Emarat DSS Promotion from June 22 to July 22 will give two cold cans of Lipton Ice Tea free on purchase of a six-pack Mirinda, Pepsi, Diet Pepsi or 7Up. The second promotion - Emarat Superman Promotion from July 23 to August end will give a 500ml water bottle with superman branding plus 1 superpunch can to be redeemed from the cooler on buying six-pack Mirinda (all flavours) or Pepsi.

The 10-week long DSS, which opens with the Ice Surprises week on June 21, will continue with the weekly themes, including International Food Surprises, Adventure Surprises, Cartoon Surprises, Nature Surprises, Arts Surprises, Knowledge Surprises, Flower Surprises, Heritage Surprises, and concludes with Back-to-School Surprises on September 1.
