The Middle East Construction and Industrial Equipment Show 2005, the region's leading construction equipment expo, in conjunction with the Middle East Elevators and Escalators Show 2005 has attracted some of the biggest international and regional names in the construction industry. The event is being staged at Dubai International Exhibition Centre from March 14 to 17.

Speaking at a press conference at the launch of the shows, Abdulla A. Abulhoul, Director, Mediac Communications and Exhibitions said, "This year's Middle East Construction and Industrial Equipment Show, together with its sister event, the Elevators and Escalators Show, has virtually doubled in size, driven by the unparalleled growth in the construction industry that is taking place across the region."

"The world's attention has shifted towards the Middle East in general, and Dubai in particular, where some of the world's most ambitious projects have been undertaken, such as the three Palm Islands, Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Burj Dubai and The Waterfront, to name but a few. In addition, shopping malls of varying sizes are under construction all over the emirate. Therefore, the region's construction industry and developers are demanding more hi-tech, high quality equipment," said Abulhoul.

"Similarly, countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain are developing huge residential and commercial projects, creating the need for increasingly sophisticated construction equipment. The two exhibitions will serve as a platform for the region's developers and contractors to view the most advanced equipment and tools that will ultimately raise quality standards and offer enhanced safety," he added.

Speaking about the importance of increased awareness of advances in the industry, Abulhoul said, "As with other major industries, the construction industry is changing rapidly, therefore it is critical that all contractors are well-informed. Technological innovations and increased automation are helping to ensure that developers are handed projects that are safe, and of the highest quality, in the fastest time possible. These two exhibitions will enable industry professionals to learn about the latest advances in construction engineering."

Addressing the press conference, Imad Al Jamal, Vice Chairman, Higher Technical Consultative Committee, UAE Contractors Association "While the construction boom has attracted diverse manufacturers and suppliers of construction equipment, it is very important that buyers choose the best and most cost-effective machinery. This type of exhibitions serves to bringing together a wide range of players, so that industry professionals can network and share information based on experience. The shows offer contractors a chance to view state-of-the-art equipment and learn about innovative techniques all under one roof. We are proud to support such a venture, because it makes a positive contribution to raising standards and delivering superb benefits to end-users."

This year's shows offer excellent networking and sales opportunities for local and international professionals in the industry including architects, designers, civil engineers, builders, housing sector specialists and contractors.

The shows are supported by the Society of Engineers UAE, and the United Arab Emirates Contractors Association.
