6,122 trade visitors from 34 countries attend Caravan Malaysia 2003 at Expo Centre Sharjah in three days

“Companies from the Middle East stand to gain a keen competitive advantage to further strengthen their position in their markets through the use of Sapura Telecommunications Berhad’s (STB) stable of ICT solutions,” said Mr. Zulkiflee Abdul Rahman, Head - Strategic Marketing, Market Capital Division of STB during the ongoing Caravan Malaysia 2003 exhibition at Expo Centre Sharjah. In three days, the exhibition has attracted 6,122 trade visitors from 34 countries.

STB is one of Malaysia’s largest developers of indigenous Intellectual Property (IP) in the form of software and solutions that are designed with a clear understanding of regional needs and sensitivities.

STB’s participation in the Caravan Show 2003 is part of the company’s efforts to highlight Malaysian developed ICT products and technologies. “We are happy at the response we have so far received at the show,” continued Mr. Zulkiflee. “We have met many prospective companies and hope to appoint local partners to help us further develop our solutions for specific use in the Middle East region, specifically the UAE and the Gulf States.”

STB’s exhibit at the show include two of its most established solutions, Learnfinity and DRDok. Learnfinity is a system for developing and managing e-learning through internal and external networks including the Internet. DRDok on the other hand is a Web-based Knowledge, Document and Office Management System.

Both these solutions are widely used by customers from the private and public sectors in Malaysia. STB has developed these solutions to match global standards and its teams are continually working on feature, function and flexibility improvements to further meet the needs of users.

“STB has developed technology and solutions keeping the region’s needs in mind,” added Mr. Zulkiflee. “They are valuable for companies from the Middle East facing globalization and increasing levels of domestic growth and competition.

“We believe that the best way to serve the needs of our customers is to fully understand their needs. With that in mind, STB is developing local contacts and hopes to be working with several key local partners to jointly develop and market its technology, solutions and products in the future,” he concluded.

Caravan Malaysia 2003 is open everyday from 20 to 24 December 2003, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm to traders and from 4.30 pm to 9.30 pm to the general public and trade.
