UAE / Australia - 17 July, 2012: Metito, the leading provider of total intelligent water management solutions in the emerging markets, has announced its latest overseas projects with Bechtel International Inc. in Australia. The two projects are an integral addition to Metito's burgeoning oil and gas portfolio and part of a long term partnership with Bechtel, one of the leading Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management companies and a major player in the booming Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) industry in Australia.

Both projects are located on Curtis Island, near Gladstone in Queensland, Australia. Bechtel is constructing three separate LNG plants on the island which liquefy coal seam gas ready for export for two customers - GLNG (Santos, Petronas, Total and Kogas) and Australia Pacific LNG (Conocophillips, Origin and Sinopec).

Metito's scope of work includes design, fabrication and supervision of installation of initial equipment supplied by Metito including seawater reverse osmosis desalination plants and sewage treatment plants to be used for the construction sites at GLNG.

The specification required these plants to meet challenging feed water quality and very strict discharge limits. Moreover, to meet the needs for the construction schedule, construction water and sewage treatment plants were fast-tracked. This was followed by the supply of demineralization systems using reverse osmosis and electrodeionization for Australia Pacific LNG, as well as oily waste treatment systems for GLNG. The demineralized water is used for the Acid Gas Reduction Unit (AGRU) and turbine wash.

Several years ago, Metito entered the Australian market supplying similar equipment for the Darwin LNG project, on the Northwest coast. Australia is rapidly becoming one of its largest exporters of LNG in the world. This presents great prospects for Metito who is keen to integrate its sustainable business practices in water management within the oil and gas/energy sector, in a mission to further rationalize the supply and demand of naturally renewable water resources.

Discussing the projects, Tarek Ghandour, International Business Development Manager, said: "These developments show a continuing effort from Metito to utilize its technical expertise and state of the art equipment to provide high quality service to our clients around the globe. We are honoured to work with Bechtel on such important projects which we see as a valuable opportunity for our team to build on Metito's Australian local projects' portfolio". "Metito's operations span across four continents and Australia will always be an important market for us, where we see potential, need and available capabilities that allow such projects to be sustainable for generations to come", he added.
