Over 100 staff from 10 countries attend six-day courses in UAE

Dubai - Over 100 regional sales managers, marketing managers and salesmen from Mercedes-Benz distributors in the Middle East, the Levant and Pakistan have taken part in a six-day training program for the new luxury CLS-Class four-door coupe that arrives in the region's showrooms in the middle of November.

During the training event run at the Hatta Fort Hotel and at DaimlerChrysler Middle East's training centre in Jebel Ali by company trainers Jack Hirschberg, Rafat Rizq and Uwe Hermann, the delegates were provided with information on the world's first vehicle to combine the elegance and dynamism of a coupe with the comfort and practicality of a saloon. They were also able to test competitive vehicles.

"The training week gave delegates the chance to learn all about the new CLS-Class and how it compares  to its competitors," said Johannes Fritz, Sales and Marketing Director, Mercedes Car Group, Dubai. "They were seriously impressed by not only the design but also the fact that Mercedes-Benz has once again created a new automotive segment as it did with its A and M- Class of vehicles."

The new CLS-Class will initially be available in two versions. The CLS 350 is powered by a newly developed V6 with 272 hp while the CLS 500 is fitted with a muscular eight-cylinder unit with 306 hp. Both engines have the new seven-speed automatic transmission, 7G-TRONIC as standard. The CLS 500 model features such as AIRMATIC DC air suspension and THERMOTRONIC four-zone climate control provide S-Class levels of comfort.

An AMG verson fitted with a 5.5 litre V8 supercharged engine and capable of 0 - 100 kilometres an our in just 4.7 seconds, will arrive in the region in March next year.

"As a unique synthesis of a coup and a saloon, the new CLS-Class offers a great deal more added value than other coups," said Fritz. "In this way Mercedes-Benz  once again emphasises its role as a trendsetter for new ideas in the automotive world."
