Muscat 15 September 2012 - Oman's first ever forum on the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) services industry - a key pillar of the country's flourishing construction sector - has attracted strong interest from industry professionals.

Over 100 key executives, representing key stakeholders in the public sector, as well as private technology and service providers, have so far signed up to participate in 'MEP Oman 2012'.

Organised by Global Exhibitions & Conferences (GEC), in partnership with International Quality and Productivity Centre (IQPC), this exclusive spotlight on the Sultanate's cornerstone MEP industry will be held during 17-18 September 2012, in parallel with IMTEX 2012, a first-of-a-kind trade fair showcasing industrial machinery, tools, hardware and equipment.

Both the exhibition and conference are being held under the patronage of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. IMTEX 2012 will take place at the Oman International Exhibition Centre and the companion MEP Oman Conference will be held at the adjoining Golden Tulip Seeb.

Focusing on the theme, 'Exploring and improving best practice implementation of MEP projects in Oman', the conference will spotlight a wide spectrum of topics such as Adopting sustainable regulation and standards to improve MEP project delivery; Improving design models and coordinating methods to enhance operation and curtail maintainace cost; Promoting green building and sustainable technologies to enhance project life-cycle.

"MEP Oman 2012 and IMTEX 2012 are like two sides of the same coin. They are an integral part of Oman's multi-billion dollar construction sector, and thus interdependent on each other for the overall success of this pivotal industry. This is the principal rationale behind the staging of these two important events concurrently," said C. J. Paul, Chief Executive Officer, Global Exhibitions & Conferences.

The conference and companion trade fair are both taking place amid dramatic developments in the construction and real estate sectors, characterised by mega-budget investments in signature projects in tourism, hospitality and the leisure sectors. Big-ticket projects, such as the Oman Exhibitions and Convention Center, Oman National Museum, Majlis Oman headquarters, and a slew of other landmark resort developments herald an era of unprecedented opportunities for the MEP sector.

"During the two-day MEP Oman Conference, an array of distinguished speakers will offer insightful perspectives on trends, developments and technological advancements across the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing segments of this industry. Various presentations will evaluate the role of cutting-edge electro-mechanical technologies and services designed to meet the increasingly complex requirements of end users," said Jessica Hern, Conference Producer, IQPC Dubai

MEP Oman 2012 and IMTEX Oman will be formally inaugurated by HE Ahmed Sulaiman Saleh Al Maimani, Undersecretary of Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Administrative & Financial and Regional Affairs on 17th September 2012.  Decision-makers representing a number of ministries, public sector undertakings, private contractors, and technology and service providers that have a stake in this vital industry are due to participate in the forum.
