MBC2 and MEIFF announce strategic partnership

Dubai: The creative dreams of a budding generation of movie makers are set to become a reality through a visionary competition-MBC2 Movies in Motion that will culminate in the winning movie being seen by over 40 million viewers in the region. The competition, in its second year running, will also offer aspiring film makers the opportunity to develop their talent at a leading film academy.  In addition the winners will also receive an award at the Middle East Film Festival, set to welcome the likes of Susan Sarandon, Antonio Banderas and many other international celebrities.

The competition created by MBC2 last year, is in partnership with Sony Ericsson and Cadillac and the winner will drive away in the new award winning Cadillac CTS. The Movies in Motion competition offers students at schools and universities across the Middle East the chance to make their own 2 minute movie from concept to final cut. Participants will be send in their story-boards and a panel of judges will select the best three from each school; then send the experts round to produce the mini movies with them.

Andrew Maskall, Senior Manager, Marketing of MBC Western Channels commented "We have been delighted by the enthusiasm and positive reception that the MBC2 Movies in Motion initiative has received from the educational institutions that have been approached, and can't wait to see the finished products. We have a passion for movies and this is just the first phase in our long term commitment to young talent in the region. We have some very exciting announcements to make at the second Middle East Film Festival".

"We are very excited to partner with MBC2 to announce the second MiM competition. We are dedicated in discovering the young talent in the region and look forward to sharing their accomplishments." added, Nashwa Alruwaini, Festival Director, MEIFF.

Husni El Assi, General Manager for Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications for the MENA region, said: "this is a great platform to demonstrate the integration of mobile technology with talent, and a great way to present to a wide audience the capabilities of Sony Ericsson innovative applications and products".

"Movies in Motion is a wonderful initiative to promote young talent in the region, we are proud to be a part of this project which allows us to give back to the community in the region", commented Adib Takieddine, Cadillac Marketing Manager, Middle East.

The MBC2 Movies in Motion competition is being launched with a road show that will take a team of industry experts to universities across the region where they will offer participating students a condensed course in the finer art of movie production, from storyboard creation to the final edit. The strategic partnership between MBC2 and MEIFF will also see the launch of many new initiatives dedicated to the development of the film industry in the region.
