Dubai, United Arab Emirates: With Market Outside the Box (MOTB) in full swing until 2 February, organisers Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) highlight how the annual pop-up marketplace helps a variety of promising entrepreneurs establish themselves at the 24th Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF).

Returning for its 6th year, MOTB provides a platform for emerging designers to showcase and sell their products to an ever-growing market drawn to Dubai through the famed DSF. Located at Burj Park, MOTB paves the way for home-grown brands to build their businesses and present bespoke and one-of-a-kind pieces during the 10-day market.

Seasoned exhibiting brand Luna & Sol’s spokesperson Amna commented: “It’s a great opportunity for us to participate and be exposed to new people at MOTB. We cater to many different tastes and preferences, so it’s incredible to meet new customers from new cultures. We are excited to welcome a new network of exhibitors and buyers.”

MOTB affords brands a permanent set-up after their exposure at the yearly market, with Project Chaiwala’s founder Ahmad Kazim affirming: “Having started as a pop-up concept, Project Chaiwala owes its success in part to events like MOTB. It was at MOTB where we were able to engage with our audience, test out different elements and get feedback on our product and brand. After several pop-up events and more than 20,000 cups of chai later, Project Chaiwala has opened its flagship store in Alserkal, bringing the vision of a welcoming, neighbourhood chai spot to life.”

A repeat vendor at MOTB, Shazia Ahmed of Emaan Home adds: “MOTB has been remarkable in exposing our brand to a new audience. We've made so many connections during our time at MOTB and this has led to some great projects and opportunities during the year. It’s also given us a platform to engage our customers in a meaningful way, allowing them to have this immersive experience of the brand in a way that only a physical store can provide. This experience is very valuable to an online business like ours, and I look forward to it every year.”

Lina Mane, owner of L’MANE Designs, who participated again at this year’s MOTB, commented: “We’ve landed numerous great opportunities with MOTB. The event’s attributes, such the right season and the right venue, help us find leads to secure customers. MOTB really supports us with understanding the market, as consumer expectations are always changing.”

Sixth-time exhibiter at MOTB, Mina Javier, expresses why she comes back year after year: “MOTB gives us the chance to showcase our products and interact with visitors from around the world who come to shop at DSF every year. As a vendor, we’ve participated in MOTB ever since its first edition in 2014. The exposure helps small local brands like ours and contributes to the growth of our client base over the years.”

The grass roots-led initiative hosts an array of vendors across the ten-day event and exhibits designers from Spain, such as Outside Air, to Lebanon, such as jewellery designer Maggie Baroud.

MOTB is supported by sponsors which include King’s College Hospital, MINI AGMC, Careem, Splash & Party, Redbull, and Dream Days. For more information and a full update on DSF activities, visit http://www.mydsf.ae/ or @DSFSocial and #MyDSF.
