Cairo December 23rd, 2002, Orascom Telecom Holding S.A.E., the leading GSM Telecommunications and Internet services operator in the Middle East, Africa and Pakistan, announces a Management re-structuring in its operations.
In the new structure, Mr. Naguib Sawiris will assume the post of both Chairman & CEO of the Group. Two major divisions are established. The Operations Control Division which will be headed by Zouhair Abdel Khaliq as Executive Officer Operations Control and the Finance Division which will be headed by Aldo Mareuse as Executive Officer Finance. Operations Control will consist of three departments:
Operations Control & Strategic Planning, Technology IT, and Human Resources & Administration. The Finance Division will consist of Project Financing, Corporate Accounting, Budgeting & Planning, Treasury, and Investor Relations.
Zouhair Abdel Khaliq is a UK qualified Chartered Accountant with over 19 years of senior international management and Board leaders hip experience. Prior to joining Orascom Telecom Holding, he was a member of the Management Board & Chief Operating Officer for the Wcities Group in the UK. Between 1997 and 2001, a Regional Director Operations for Motorola's Network Management Group cove ring Europe Middle East and Africa. Zouhair represented Motorola as a Board member in several Joint Venture wireless companies in the EMEA region, including MobiNil and Mobilink. Earlier in his career Zouhair has held senior management positions, in financ e, operations and strategic planning at Motorola's joint venture Mobilink,ICI plc, Millicom and Price Waterhouse Coopers.
Aldo Mareuse brings over 15 years of international general management, financial and strategic management experience. Prior to joining Orascom Telecom Holding, he held the position of Managing Director at Credit Suisse First Boston in the Investment Banking Division Telecommunications Group in London where he was Head of European Wireless and responsible for key accounts such as France Telecom and Telefonica among others. Aldo has over 11 years of experience in providing advisory on major M&A, IPO, equity offerings and debt financings for multinational corporations. Earlier in his career he held other senior management positions within CSFB, Investment Banking Divisions in New York and Paris.
