MAN Truck & Bus Product portfolio enriched with wide range of efficient diesel engines with performance spanning from 180 kW to 1,117 kW
MAN uses Middle East Electricity Trade fair in Dubai as launch platform
MAN today announced the Middle East launch of its diesel engines for the power generation market at the Middle East Electricity trade fair in Dubai, the largest exhibition event for the energy supply industry in the region. The Middle East Electricity trade fair is taking place from the 11th to the 13th of February 2014 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre. MAN´s products can be viewed in Hall S2 at Stand E20.
The entry of MAN into the Middle East power generation segment through MAN engines designed and produced in Germany will enable MAN to complete its product portfolio for the Middle Eastern market. MAN will offer a wide range of efficient diesel engines with performance spanning from 180 kW to 1,117 kW. MAN diesel engines for peak load compensation, emergency power supply and basic load supply have been successfully sold for many years now in Europe, Asia, South Africa and America.
"From now on, we will be able to offer our customers local services for a wide range of reliable and durable MAN engines. Our broad product range enables us to offer dynamic engines with mechanical injection as well as with the most up-to-date common rail technology. MAN engines are characterised by their high power spectrum, sturdy design and compact construction, whilst their low life cycle costs also win over many customers," revealed Hubert Gossner, Head of Power MAN Engines.
For the emerging market, MAN provides tried and tested, sustainable 6-cylinder in-line engines, as well as 8-, 10- and 12-cylinder V-type engines. Depending on their type of operation in PRP (Prime Power), ESP (Emergency Standby Power), LTP (Limited Time Power) or COP (Continuous Power), the engines can be operated for a maximum of between 200 and 8,000 operational hours per year.
MAN presented to visitors of Middle East Electricity in Dubai the 6-cylinder in-line engine, D2676 LE22x, as well as the 12-cylinder V-type engine, D2862 LE22x, showcasing a broad spectrum of its range of different engines and performance diversity.
The D2862 LE22x, an innovative new design, is the highest performance diesel engine for power generation which MAN is proud to be able to include in its portfolio. This 12 cylinder V-type engine from MAN has a displacement of 24.2 litres, with a 128 mm bore and a stroke of 157 mm. The V12 offers mechanical performance of 880 kW at 1,500 rpm and 1,117 kW at 1,800 rpm for power generation in Emergency Standby Power (ESP) mode. The use of modern technologies such as Common Rail Injection systems enables the efficient, 12-cylinder engine to achieve peak values for fuel consumption over a wide, application spectrum. Its dimensions of just 2,660 mm x 1,540 mm x 1,920 mm ensure its suitability for use as a container generating set.
The D2676 LE22x has been developed as a four stroke diesel engine with 6 in-line cylinders able to yield 12.4 litre displacement with its 126 mm bore and 166 mm stroke. The 6-cylinder offers back-up mechanical performance of 396 kW at 1,500 rpm and 415 kW at 1,800 rpm for power generation in Limited Time Power (LTP) mode. The basic engine has been successfully used for many years in MAN commercial vehicles and in agricultural machinery applications. A total of 100,000 units have already been produced.
The efficient D2676 diesel engine mainly stands out for its long working life and low operating costs. The low life cycle costs are mainly achieved by its low fuel and oil consumption, the long service life of the components and the user-friendly basic maintenance of the lightweight (1,165 kg dry weight) and easily accessible, compact (2,518 mm x 1,080 mm x 1,406 mm) MAN engine. Both the D2862 LE22x and the D2676 LE22x meet the locally applicable, current exhaust emission standards in all performance ranges.
