Winners of the Young Entrepreneur Competition walk away with Dhs.250,000

Dubai, April 15th 2009: His Highness Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, honored the winners of the fifth Young Entrepreneur Competition (YEC) 2009 with certificates of appreciation and almost a quarter of a million Dirhams for the Top 5 winners. The ceremony was held under the patronage of H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, on Tuesday, April 14th at Al Maktoum Hall at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, Speaker of the Federal National Council, Abdul Baset Al Janahi, CEO of Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders, a number of senior officials and a large number of students from public and private schools, Colleges and Universities who took part in the four-day competition at Dubai Mall.

Winners of the 5th YEC were as follows:

First place - The "Noor Ro'ya Alghad" project by:  Shaima' Yousef Altnak, Haifa' Sultan Al Ali, Horeya Ahmed Aljesmi and Fatima Hasan Albloushi from the "Mariya Alqubteya high school".

Second place - The "DT Innovation"" projects by: Hashim Husain, Ali Osamah, Ali Hadraj, & Sheshan Kan Kanamge From Ras Al Khaimah English Speaking School.

Third place - The"Newzy" project by: Hamda Khalid Al Shirawi, Sharifa Abdulhameed Al Sunaid, Marwa Mahmood Zainal, Abdullah Abdulhameed Al Sumaid from Al Mawakeb Private School.

Fourth place -  The "Jinx" project by ; Sara Al-mutawa , Aminah Yahgi from Al Mizhar American Academy For Girls.

Fifth place - The Fifth place goes to the "The Smallest Gallery" project by: Majid Salem Alkatbi, Abdullah Ali, Rashid Abdullah Alsahlawi from Al-Mawakeb Private School.

His Highness Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority honored the best 12 projects; the projects were:

"Skeek Awwal" by Mozah Hasan and Khadeeja Mohammed from the Amnah bint Wahb School, for the Best Marketing and promotional team category,  The Smallest Gallery" by Majid Salem Alkatbi , Abdullah Ali and Rashid Abdullah Alsahlawi from Al-Mawakeb Private School, for the category : Best Technology "Pretty Girls" by Hajir Khadir Almansouri, Shaikha Khamis Mohammed Hamdi, Hayah Mohammed Ahmed Hmoud Ahshuhi and Turkeya Abdullah Ali Alshuhi fom the Jalfar High school, for the Best Team-work.

"Bateet PaintBall" by Abdulhameed Sadegh Al Marifi  , Mohammed Abdulla Al Mazrouie, Bader Ali Al Janahi, Mohammed Rashid Al Shamsi, Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouie, Suhail Ali Belhebalah and Obaid Mohammed Al Budoor from Al Ittihad Private school, for the Best Profitable Business,  "Learn with Abdullah & Shaikha", by Maryam Hasan Alkhayat and Safeya Mohammed Alhamadi, from the "Mariyah Alqubteyah high school" for the Best Cultural Project, "DT Innovation" by: Hashim Husain, - Ali Osamah - Ali Hadraj & Sheshan Kan Kanamge from Ras Al Khaimah English Speaking School for the Best product design.

"Under Construction"  by Saeed Humaid bin Hazeem, Ibrahim Mohammed Ghanim and Saeed jum'ah Alhameri, from Al Shorouq Private School for the Best Kiosk award, "Stop, our team to the top" by Maryam Sabt Aldhahri, Aysha Sabt Aldhahri, Fayza Sha'aer Alhitawi, Mozah Khalfan Hamdan and Shama Hasan Alhitawi fom Al Thahra High School for the Best UAE National Team. "Noor Ro'ya Alghad" by Shaima' Yousef Altnak, Haifa' Sultan Al Ali, Horeya Ahmed Aljesmi, and Fatima Hasan Albloushi from the Mariya Alqubteya high school for the Best Unique Business.

"A' Albaal" by Aysha Al Mansoori,Buthaina Al-Ayali, Noora Al Ghandi and Maitha Al Hashimi from the Ittihad Private School for the Best Handmade Product, "Jinx" by Sara Al-mutawa , Aminah Yahgi from Al Mizhar American Academy For Girls for the Best Artistic Projects, last but not least Newzy by Hamda Khalid Al Shirawi, Sharifa Abdulhameed Al Sunaid, Marwa Mahmood Zainal, AbdullahAbdulhameed  Al Sunaid from Al Mawakeb Private School for the Best Environmental Awareness project.

H.H also honored Mr. Ahmad Thani Al Matroushi Managing Director of Emaar for the support Emmar showed in hosting this event in Dubai Mall, Mr. Ahmad Al Hammadi, General Manager of Awraaq Publishing - Arab Media Group, and Major Saeed Lootah from Dubai Police.

The participation in this year's competition exceeded all expectations with over 280 projects from all over the UAE. Compared to 2008, the competition attracted 200% more applicants.
