16% growth in 2007 total mall sales
Maadi, Egypt, May 22, 2008: Maadi City Centre, part of the MAF Shopping Malls portfolio, reported a growth of 16 per cent in sales for the year 2007. In just four months since the opening of its new extension in September 2007, the centre witnessed an overwhelming 60 per cent increase in visitor traffic. These and more positive results were announced at its Annual General Meeting held recently in the presence of retailers and senior mall management.
Maadi City Centre met and exceeded its marketing objectives for 2007 and following its redevelopment, the mall has now added 40 additional well-reputed local and international brands to complete the retail experience for shoppers. The new extension boasts of a wide variety of retail mix comprising of globally recognized brand names including some that have exclusively set up shop in Maadi City Centre for the first time in Africa.
Akram Zohier, Mall Manager, Maadi City Centre, commented: "Our objective in 2007 was to maintain our sales and footfall figures at the same level as 2006, owing to the redevelopment and expansion project that was taking place at the Centre. But exceeding the sales figures by 16 per cent is indeed very commendable. The event ended on a high note with Maadi City Centre presenting awards in eight different categories to its retailers based on various excellence criteria such as sales performance, operational compliance and customer service.
Winners included "Mobaco" as the Best Small Fashion Store, "Cilantro" as the Best Restaurant/Café, "McDonald's" as the Best Food Court Outlet, "Talaat El Sergany" as the Best Jewellery & Watches Store, "Faces" as the Best Health/Wellness/Perfume Store and "Scarpa" as the Best Shoes/Sports Store.
The Best Shop Manager was awarded to Nahed Riad Al Sonbatty from Faces and the Best Improved Retailer for the year was "Scarpa".
