Dubai, UAE: 3M, the technology company that produces thousands of innovative products for dozens of different industries, unveiled recently the leading 3M Crystalline Automotive Window Films - a significant breakthrough in window film technology that can provide added comfort and protection for the driver and passengers inside a car - especially in the summer heat of the Gulf region.

The four different tinted versions of the Crystalline Automotive Window Films, which offer different levels of glare reduction - were developed using 3M's leading nanotechnology and feature a proprietary multilayer technology that combines more than 200 layers - in a film that is thinner than a Post-it® Note.

The films reduce heat inside the vehicle and reduce glare from sunshine, while blocking 99.9% of the harmful UV rays of the sun and 97% of UV ultraviolet rays, with a total Sun Protection Factor (SPF) that exceeds 1700. The sun protection offered by the window films can not only relieve discomfort from existing skin conditions irritated by intense sunlight, but can protect passengers from skin problems associated with exposure to the sun's UV rays; including sunburn, premature aging and the risks associated with skin cancer.

Walid Feghali, Country Business Leader for the Safety Division at 3M commented; "In the heat of the Gulf sunshine - especially now the summer is upon us, the sun's rays very easily penetrate vehicle windows, causing the inside of the car to heat up quickly. Not only do the 3M's Crystalline films block out the sun, but the inside of the car will stay cool - as the films reflect even more heat than many of the darkest tints available in the Gulf market."

Additionally, by blocking out the bright sunlight, 3M's Crystalline films help protect car interiors from the destructive ultraviolet rays that can cause fading and deterioration. Developed with an ultra grade polyester, the films allow clear and accurate high definition vision for night driving, while providing an increase in driver comfort; with low reflectivity leaving the driver's view clear, glare free and unobstructed with excellent brightness.

Due to a significant breakthrough in the window film technology, 3M's Crystalline Automotive Window Films are totally metal-free which allow for easy maintenance and a long-life, without issues of corrosion. Because of this composition, the films have zero interference with mobile phones, GPS and radio reception. This minimizes the frustration of lost connectivity associated with metallic window films.

3M's Crystalline Automotive Window Films also provide other benefits associated with driver safety. "In the event of an accident, our window films help to minimize flying glass, which greatly protects interior occupants against serious injury and valuable property from excessive damage," commented Walid, adding; "Furthermore, the films provide an added level of security by acting as a crime deterrent - with the tints less likely to prompt theft, break-ins or vandalism."

3M remains committed to offering solutions that simplify the lives of consumers throughout the Gulf. Among the initiatives designed by 3M for the Gulf region are the 3M AutoCare Centres, and the 3M Construction Markets initiative which address the needs of the region's construction industry. 3M additionally offers thousands of market-leading branded products - that facilitate every day life including Post-it®, Nexcare™ and Scotch-Brite™ - across the region.
