21 February 2012
Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management systems and threat management solutions, presented today the importance of robust  corporate endpoint security in the era of cloud, mobility and virtualization, at the at the IDC CIO Summit 2012, being held at Le Meridien Fujeirah, UAE, a widely recognized ICT focused event, where CIOs, CTOs, businesses and IT executives acquire distilled and compact insights into IT strategies, emerging technologies, and best practices that have direct implications on their businesses.

According to a recent Kaspersky Lab survey, in the past 12 months at least one IT Security incident was experienced by 91% of the companies surveyed. Almost a third of company representatives questioned admitted that they had incurred sensitive data loss as a result of malware infection. Though malware attacks are the most common type of business security threat, only 70% of the companies surveyed have fully implemented anti-malware protection; 3% have no anti-malware protection at all.

Kaspersky Lab's delegate at the summit, Alexander Erofeev, Director of Market Intelligence & Insight said, "We are experiencing rapid changes in global IT ecosystem with cloud, mobility and virtualization being main drivers of technologies whilst web applications and consumerization are affecting users' habit."

The growing amount of information that requires security is driven largely from two main sources: corporations (including employees) and consumers. New security practices and tools has to be adopted to help enterprises identify the information that needs to be secured and at what level of security and then secure the information using specific threat protection devices and software, fraud management systems, or reputation protection services.

"Altogether these technologies dilute the traditional perimeter and points, based approach to IT security and move more weight to endpoints of various kind. The approach to protecting companies from external and internal threads also has to be revised with heavy focus to multi-dimensional protection, default-deny technologies and advanced security for mobile devices," he continued.
