The highway between Fes and Taza (130 Km) and then to Oujda (Tunisia border) contributes to the development of the eastern part of the Kingdom in particular and to the whole of Morocco in general, as the project is a part of a wide program to implement an international hallway in north Africa.
Recently awarded by Autoroutes du Maroc (ADM) in June 2005, Khatib & Alami will handle the design of the execution of 35 km of new asphalted road in the mountain area, where the project's construction cost is estimated to reach 175 Million USD.
The designed sections involve the following: 2 lanes (2x3.5) separated by a median of 10m width, lateral service roads along the highway, 9 viaducts, reinstatement of crossing roads (9 overpasses, 14 underpasses, 6 pedestrian crossings), 160 hydraulic structures, 3 interchanges, 1 service and rest area, 2 tolls plazas and relocation of all crossing / interfering public utilities.
The expected ending date of the design is in January 2006.
