Inauguration of the new JSS Private School all set to meet needs of a rising student population
On October 1st 2011, the JSS Mahavidyapeetha, the driving force behind more than 320 institutions world-wide celebrated the inauguration of its latest venture, the JSS Private School based at Al Safa, Dubai with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Dr. Abdullah Al Karam, Chairman & Director General of KHDA, Indian Corporate Affairs Minister Veerappa Moily, Jagadguru Sri Shivarthri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, President of JSS Mahavidyapeetha & Ali Mehad Al Suwaidi from the Ministry of Education inaugurated the event.
M.K.Lokesh, Ambassador of India to the UAE, C. M. Jose Aikara, Chairman, ICSE Board, India, General Nasser Abdul Razaq Al Razooqi were also present at the inauguration.
Commented Abdullah Al Karam, Chairman & Director of KHDA, "The number of Indian students has touched 60,000, representing a third of the total number of students in the emirate. This can be attributed to many students from neighboring emirates coming to study in Dubai."
He also added, "Prior to the economic crisis the annual growth in the number of students was 10 per cent. For the last three years, it has been steady and is five per cent. Due to the high quality of education offered in Dubai, we have many students who come from their neighboring emirates to study here."
M. Veerappa Moily, Minister of Corporate Affairs, India, said the government of India is coming out with a "new, vibrant" company law to meet the needs of corporates as the population rises.
Also added Guruswami Kalloor, CEO of JSS, "We conducted a survey and found a high demand for CBSE curriculum from the parents." He said the new campus will "employ a holistic approach to education". He said they plan to open another school in Abu Dhabi.
He further commented, "The new campus at Safa will also provide academic guidance as well as the skills to make each student socially responsible, in line with the JSS International School's mandate. JSS will employ a holistic approach to education to empower individuals to become caring, competent and responsible citizens who value education as a lifelong process. This promotes the student's intellectual, physical, moral and social development, realizing each student's potential."
Chitra Sharma, Principal of JSS Private School said, "With profound change in societies landscape - both UAE and India share the global vision to prepare our children to be effective critical thinkers, communicators, collaborators and creators who are prepared to meet the need of the global economy - children who are engaged in good citizenship - who participate in a vibrant and civil society - a mantra with which JSS Group is so well associated with in India. Opening of the 2nd campus of the JSS Group is a new such step towards this global vison."
Little girls dressed in white welcomed and escorted the dignitaries for the ribbon cutting. The dignitaries were also greeted by children dressed in traditional costumes along with the school prefectorial board. The glittering evening began with a note of patriotism as the National Anthems of the two nations, UAE and India were played.
The dignitaries were invited to light the lamp to mark an auspicious start to the day's programme. Felicitation of the guests was done by Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji who also blessed the audience with his discourse.
The much awaited cultural programme with all eyes focused on the young JSSITES who put up a fantastic show. There were traditional Indian and Arabic dances, melodious songs and a spectacular dance drama portraying the different states of matter. The 1500 audience comprising mostly of parents and students of JSS were treated to a spectacular laser show leaving the audience enthralled.
