Manufacturer aims to increase retails market share and double number of MC's in four years

Jotun Paints, one of the world's leading producers and suppliers of paints and coatings, has announced that it reached an important milestone following the launch of its 1,000th  Multicolour Centre (MC) in the Middle East. Located in Al Qusais - Dubai, the new centre is part of the leading paint manufacturer's ambitious plan to establish a total of 1,000 MC's in the region before the end of 2008. Company officials have also announced that they are looking at doubling the number of Jotun MC's in four years, with aims of increasing its retail market share, which currently stands at 40 per cent of the total regional market.

Among the most popular features of the MC's that have caught the attention of regional customers is the 'Colour Bar', which contains over 950 colour samples, as well as an expert group of multicolour shop personnel who educate visitors on different paint techniques and textures, and suggest hues for exterior and internal paints. The 'ColourAdvisor' is also a popular aspect of the centre as it gives customers the opportunity to choose from a colour palette and see the colour in different environments, furniture settings and under different lighting conditions. Additionally, paint and colour experts also give out brochures that contain valuable advice to customers regarding other Jotun paint products that will address their specific requirements.

"As we mark this year with this tremendous milestone, our goal is to continue creating bigger successes not only in terms of sales and production capacity but by consistently maintaining our service levels," said Ashish Vasudev, Trade Manager - MENA Region, Jotun UAE. "We take pride in serving our customers with the highest standards possible, and by opening up our newest Multicolour Centre, we are providing our customers greater access to our products and services."

With the Middle East construction market booming, in addition to the fact that customers in the region are becoming more conscious of home styling and colour schemes, the paint industry will see exponential growth in the coming years. Jotun has maintained its position as the market leader by building the largest network of MC's in the Middle East, through which its high quality paints are made widely available in the region. Furthermore, Jotun has also served as the only manufacturer that dictates new trends in the market, at a time when there is increasing demand for new generation paint products that meet the specific needs of a diverse customer base.

"As a pioneer and market leader in the paint industry, our primary goal is to live up to our reputation and provide our customers with unique and exclusive solutions to their paint needs. We are now seeing a big drive to add unique individual styles to new homes in the Middle East, as customers seek to replace standard colours. Our role is to help them in giving their home a fresh look and a more personal touch, by making unique custom made colours and tools used for various painting techniques available through our MC's, and we are expecting to further strengthen this commitment via the launch of our new centre's in the coming years," concluded Vasudev.

Jotun Paints established its presence in the Middle East in 1974, and has since expanded dramatically throughout the region by coming to the forefront in terms of developing products specifically suited to local conditions.
